Winning an NBA Championship is a feeling like no other. With the whole city on fire, players finally getting a chance to let loose after a grueling year, and the team getting bragging rights over the entire league, it is an emotion that every franchise craves for. And the Dallas Mavericks have not felt that feeling since 2011 when a Dirk Nowitzki-led squad upset The Heatles in a shocking outcome. Reminiscing about that historic run, Mavs minority owner Mark Cuban revealed the royal perks of winning his first title and the craving of getting another with Luka Doncic and Co.

Making an appearance on The Draymond Green Show, Cuban shared his experience of winning his maiden title over a decade ago and how the Dallas fans treated him after they won, “I took that trophy everywhere man. I never had to buy a drink for another year.” Although buying a drink was never an issue for the billionaire, he was ecstatic to get the superstar treatment. And it was not only in Dallas, as Cuban revealed that people across the nation were showering the Mavs with love because they beat quite a disliked team at the time, a LeBron James-led Miami Heat.

Also giving more insights into their Championship celebration, Cuban revealed that he remembers holding a $140,000 bottle of champagne in the LIV nightclub and claimed he would never remember that night if there weren’t any pictures of it. Even Draymond seemed slightly envious of the celebration and hilariously said he would have paid to be a part of that party. Despite the epic festivities, Cuban claimed that winning a Championship seemed a bit anticlimactic to him, “It’s more a stress release than it’s a celebration.” Yes, it’s great to win the title at the end of the season, but Cuban claimed that it also brings the added pressure of repeating their achievement next season.

Mark Cuban “wants more” and is ready to win again

While Cuban is no longer the majority owner of the Mavs following the historic $3.5 billion sale earlier this year, he is still as passionate about the franchise as he was in 2011. Even during the podcast, we could see the Larry O’Brien trophy in the background, in Cuban’s cabinet, as a reminder of their historic run. However, Mark admitted, “He’s lonely… Just for the stress release of it all, I want more.” Realizing how hard it is to win a title in the NBA, Cuban said that it has been too long since their last win and he wants to feel that feeling again!

Fortunately for him, it seems like Luka Doncic is ready to fulfill Mark’s wishes as he beat the Thunder last night to take the Mavs to their second Conference finals in three years. Recording a 29-point triple-double in the crucial game, Luka helped Dallas close out the series on their home court in six games.

And with Kyrie Irving by Luka’s side, this might finally be the year when Dallas makes their way back to the NBA Finals to end their 13-year drought and give Mark Cuban the taste of victory one more time.

As Dallas awaits the winner of the Nuggets vs. Wolves series, Mavs fans cannot wait for the Conference Finals to start so that they can get a chance to lift the Larry O’Brien trophy again.
