Basketball is a very competitive sport. A minimum of 450 million people play basketball. And being the best out of 450 million hoopers takes some hard work and determination. That is what LeBron James has been doing for the best part of the last two decades. He will play in his 21st NBA season when he steps onto the court in October.

King James has obviously incurred a lot of injuries in his career. Considering this, an award-winning doctor thinks LeBron almost spends five-figures on podiatry services alone.

LeBron James is one of the greatest basketball players of all time, but even the greats aren’t invincible. He has a history of suffering ankle injuries during his illustrious career. Marion Yau, an award-winning podiatrist, thinks that LeBron spends upwards of $84,000 on foot care.

In an interview with The Sun, Yau claimed, “For his feet generally, I would say that every month LeBron will be likely spending around $7,000 on podiatric care, orthotics, and custom sneakers. LeBron also has a complicated left foot and would need scalpel treatment to get the calluses removed and prevent ulcerations. Now there’s rehabilitation for his right foot on top of that. That’s an enormous bill – adding up to $84,000 a year”.

She further explained, “Looking at past images of LeBron’s feet, I can see there are also deformities on his left foot. Where his second toe overrides his big toe, his third, and fourth toes are raised, and his fifth toe overlaps his fourth one. A podiatrist would need to be consulted regularly to reduce the thick skin that builds up because of these raised toes and the overlap. There’s a lot of pressure rubbing against his skin, which can cause dead skin and eventually ulceration. A scalpel would be used to painlessly remove the hard skin”.

LeBron would like to win his 5th ring this season to further cement his position as ‘GOAT’. LeBron signed a two-year contract worth $99 million dollars last August. With only one year remaining on his contract, LeBron would become an unrestricted free agent next summer. If the Lakers can’t compete for the title this season, it is very likely LeBron will leave for a better team. He has done this in the past.
