After having been to the NBA Finals, the Dallas Mavericks seem closer than ever. That may be true for the players, who share strong camaraderie and brotherhood. However, what if there is a conflict that starts from the top of the hierarchy? With the election fever getting close, some revelations might draw these parallels. Notably, there is some political unrest between Mark Cuban and new majority owner Miriam Adelson.
Cuban, the former majority owner who sold his state in December has been at odds with Donald Trump for nearly a decade. At one point he called him an “idiot”, and in the presidential race has shown strong support for Kamala Harris. With his though, it has been with his kind words and generous spirit.
Adelson is more about action. Her support comes in the form of a staggering donation to his electoral campaign. Reports indicate that she has contributed $100 million from her own funds, a sum that may be pocket change for her but ranks as one of the largest donations to Trump’s rally efforts., even more than Elon Musk according to Front Office Sports.

In comparison, Cuban has reportedly not provided any financial support for Harris. Cuban admitted to it during an interview. Rather than providing finances, the Shark believes in stepping up reasoning. The minority Mavs owner hasn’t given any monetary aid since 2002 with that in mind. He is a top surrogate for Harris, claiming she is the ideal candidate to become the next President.
Adelson also has indirect differences with Mavericks star player Kyrie Irving due to their opposing views on the Israel-Palestine conflict.

Adelson and Donald Trump have been close associates since the time he fought for office against Joe Biden in 2020. Back then, Adelson, with over $35 billion made a $90 million donation to support his campaign. With him back in contention this year, she has continued to show her support. Their relation even goes back to the first time Trump did assume the office, with their families sitting together on the podium in 2017.
Furthermore, she has done more than just donate $100 million to his efforts this year. There is an understanding that a greater amount of funding is required, and the 79-year-old has been an active voice in making it happen. She has urged billionaires in her network to donate to Donald Trump’s campaign.
“We’re trying to raise more, and Dr. Adelson has been a fund-raising star getting more people on board,” a senior advisor of the group stated.

It’s unclear whether her influence did play any part but within the NBA, James Dolan, the owner of the Knicks has also often extended his support for Donald Trump. So far, there have been no reports of him donating to his electoral campaign. However, he did recently offer the Madison Square Garden for the POTUS nominee to conduct his campaign rally. It was a gesture Trump publicly acknowledged and even thanked Dolan for his permit.
The election race is heading to the wire, and while NBA teams might signal at their unity, there seems to be some discord within some organizations on these fronts.
