Could Curry's clutch shots against France be the pinnacle of his career? What do you think?

If not for the entire game, Stephen Curry took complete charge in the final 3 minutes. Yes, we’re talking about the Gold medal game against France. During the 4th quarter, Les Bleus staged a comeback and turned it into a two-possession game. If not for Steph, Team USA would’ve had it difficult. The superstar sunk 4 clean three-pointers to put the Frenchmen to sleep. Truly legendary! Speaking of those clutch shots, ex-NBA stars felt that the people would remember Baby-faced Assassin for these shots over his other clutch plays.

It’s not just the fans, even Steph seemed hyped after the game. The videos of the superstar celebrating the win were all over the net. And the frenzy hasn’t died down yet. 4 days later, Gilbert Arenas and Co. spoke about the Splash Brother’s outburst in Paris. He had an underwhelming run in the first four games, averaging just a smidgen above 7 points with a three-point FG of 5/20. Notably, the superstar couldn’t score a single long ranger in two of those outings. Very unlike the Stephen Curry that we all know.

However, when it mattered the most, Stephen Curry turned up the cylinders and dropped 36 and 24 points in the semi-final and finals. Former Warriors star, Gilbert Arenas, started his praise bandwagon for the sharpshooter, saying, “I think it’s how Steph got the Gold is more important than just the medal itself. He showed on the highest level that he’s clutch,” alongside his crew, Rashad McCants and Brandon Jennings, who are former NBA stars too. However, that was far from the end of their analysis.

Gilbert Arenas pulls out a MJ comparison on Stephen Curry

Following the extravagant praise, Arenas went on to redefine ‘clutch’. But before that, let’s catch up with what the former star had to say about Stephen Curry’s legacy. The 42-year-old continued, “Those were clutch performance shots and for him to do it on that stage, people are going to remember this moment in Steph’s career more than probably any shot he’s taken.” Jennings pitched in, saying, “I believe that.”

Gilbert further went into the details and picked Step Curry’s shots over Victor Wembanyama & two French forwards and compared them to Michael Jordan’s iconic shots from the past. The one from the 1989 playoffs, which is famously known as ‘The Shot’ which His Airness shot over Craig Ehlo in Game 5 to win the first round. The other one is the push-off bucket over Bryon Russell to win the 1998 Finals.

Arenas added, “Those two shots for Jordan that’s going to be this one for Steph,” and Jennings again doubled it down on Gil’s Arena, saying, “Definitely his biggest moment. I think the biggest moment of his career. I mean, the world is watching.”

Gilbert Arenas redefines clutch

When Arenas referred to Stephen Curry as a clutch, he immediately clarified, saying, “Not the media’s version of clutch.” Then, he went on to drop his own definition of the term. He continued, “The moment in time, every shot he took was a shot to seal it, put it away, keep him at bay. And that’s what that moment was.”

The former player doesn’t just consider one buzzer-beater shot as a clutch play, but a series of buckets that Stephen Curry made at the end as a clutch. Nevertheless, the superstar had made several similar plays for the Dubs in the past. To name one, in a regular season against the Phoenix Suns, Steph sunk a game-winning three-pointer. With 3.3 seconds remaining on the clock, the Dibs needed a two-pointer to tie the game.

When everyone expected Brandin Podziemski to make an inbound pass for a two-point shot, he surprised everyone with a tough pass to Curry. The wizard effortlessly sunk the tough contested three-pointer, leaving 0.7 seconds on the clock. The Dubs ultimately went on to win the game.
