The world can be quite harsh sometimes! Especially for someone who is looking to make a comeback after consistent setbacks. Ben Simmons has had a very bumpy ride in his NBA career. From missing entire seasons to hundreds of minutes with injuries, this situation has put him in a do-or-die position to prove himself to the community. Amid this delicate state, the Aussie hooper has been subject to many hecklers on his way. However, Simmons had his teammates stand by his side this time, particularly Dennis Schroder.

After dealing with a chronic back injury, the 2018 ROY Award winner finally recovered ahead of a fresh season. Even though the Brooklyn Nets offer restricted minutes on the floor, Simmons slowly but steadily finds his rhythm, putting his projected All-Star season on the line. Despite losing the first two games, the hooper has put up a decent comeback stat line of 6.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 5.5 assists in a 24-minute stay on the floor. However, this doesn’t seem enough for a young heckler.

Following the Friday loss against the Orlando Magic, a few fans waited at the Kia Center tunnel to have a glimpse of the players, heading back to the locker room. At that time, a fan heckled Ben Simmons, saying, “You’re Trash,” after he walked past him.

The 28-year-old hooper immediately retaliated, saying, “Why didn’t you say it when I was there, pu–y?” However, while everyone thought the issue was over, former LA Lakers guard Dennis Schroder emerged from the locker room, looking for the troublemaker.

The German guard confronted the fan and the situation immediately blew up after a few other Nets’ teammates joined him. After a point, the scene was out of control and the officials had to remove the fans from the tunnel, ruining everyone else’s mood who was present there. Nevertheless, this leaves Ben Simmons in a situation where he has to prove himself to earn his respect back.

However, in a sport like basketball, anything is possible. So far, looking at Ben Simmons’ performance in the season, the 3x All-Star’s return to the All-NBA honor seems quite challenging, some would dare to say, impossible. However, the Aussie’s trainer Chris Brickley, who worked with the hooper during his road to recovery, seemed very confident about his All-Star appearance.

Responding to a fans’ hate comment, calling Simmons a “lost cause,” Brickley confidently said, “Thanks bro but Ben is healthy, moving very well, he is better now than his All-Star seasons. I’ve never co-signed a player that didn’t prove it when their season started. Trust me on this one.”

Nevertheless, it’s been only two games, and his numbers can gradually go up, right before the All-Star week, Ben Simmons might have proved what Brickley had claimed.

Anyway, Simmons has a lot of attention on himself while transitioning into a team in its developmental phase. It’s both a blessing and a curse. On one side, he can grow as a player and find his role as the team develops, and on the other hand, he might have to face many failures during experimentation.
