It’s yet another season of horrors for Ben Simmons. The Brooklyn Nets point guard has been dealing with a lower back impingement throughout the last few seasons. It’s no different still. According to Shams Charania, a revered NBA insider Simmons will be out for the remainder of the season.
Ben Simmons first suffered a similar injury against the Milwaukee Bucks on November 6. The team first believed it to be a hip injury. however, after further evaluation, they found it to be a lower back impingement. Simmons missed 38 games after suffering from that injury, only returning to action in early January. Now, a new update has declared his unavailability for the remaining season.
The Athletic journalist Shams Chariana added a new post on Instagram which said, “Nets say Ben Simmons is out for the remainder of the season while he consults with specialists and explores treatment options for the nerve impingement in his lower back.” The Brooklyn Nets guard has had a history of back injuries since the 2021-22 season, which he missed fully due to rehabilitation and mental health therapy.

Speaking about his continuous streak of injuries, Ben Simmons has said, “It’s probably one of the most frustrating points of my career because I want to be able to help my team win… It’s one of those things that’s a part of sports. Not every game is promised. Injuries happen. Unfortunately, it happened.” With so many injuries, things don’t look very bright for Simmons. Moreover, this has been a yearly problem for him, and can see him moving out of another team.

Will Ben Simmons be traded away once again?
Ben Simmons has only participated in 15 games this season for the Brooklyn Nets. He was transforming into a critical part of the young Nets lineup. Simmons had established himself as the point-of-attack defender while being the primary playmaker choice for Brooklyn. He averaged 6.1 points, 7.9 rebounds and 5.7 assists per game this season.
This will be the fourth consecutive season that the former Philadelphia 76ers guard will have played under 60 games. Severe concerns have been raised in the past by popular analysts and former legends over Ben Simmons’ career. Since his lowlight against the Hawks in 2021, the 27-year-old has seen a drop in his production and is yet to average over 10 points in any season for the Nets.
