Joel Embiid wastes no time taking to social media to showcase his disapproval of one of TNT’s NBA Insider Crew. The context was none other than the highly anticipated Stephen vs Sabrina 3-point challenge. After Curry dropped 29 against Ionescu’s 26, Kenny Smith commented that she should have just played from the women’s line.

Embiid, in response, tweeted, “Kenny smith been drinking lmao.” Smith’s comment just went against the very fabric of what the NBA was trying to do – lessen the gap between genders.

WNBA is already making strides by encouraging girls and women all over the world to take up basketball as a career. The fact that the Liberty guard threw down 26 points against the greatest shooter of all time is proof enough that Sabrina is indeed talented. Not to mention, this event is going to be the greatest historical milestone.

Therefore, it’s no wonder that the NBA world didn’t stay quiet after such an embarrassing showdown by Kenny. Hearing a prominent figure speak in such a careless manner would be a black mark on what the NBA professes to achieve.

Despite it all, the two GOATS did not let the trash talk or insults mar their happiness at being the first to start something that will hopefully continue. Steph is notable for his support of women’s sports. So, it was no surprise that when Ionescu, after beating Curry’s record last year, challenged him to a shootout, readily agreed.

But he made sure to get in her head as much as possible prior to the game.

Stephen Curry had made sure to scout his competition before suiting up tonight. Arriving at her practice session, the ‘Baby Faced Assasin’ tried to pressure her. But it seems like the whole thing could have backfired during the actual contest. “I saw the first rack … and I was having flashbacks to watching her this [past] summer,” the 2x 3-point contest champion admitted post-game.

“It added a lot of pressure, for sure, and I just wanted to get off to a good start, settle in and thankfully I made enough to get over the top.” The key word here being “thankfully”. Sabrina is not one to be shaken up because of a few blinding lights and competitor pressure. And the Warriors superstar learned that the hard way.

But like Steph said, he managed to get his focus back and narrowly avoided a defeat. Sabrina, for her part, is already planning on their next head-to-head. The duo even hinted at an interesting addition to the next time – adding a partner.
