The T-Mobile Arena on the Las Vegas Strip is star-studded once again as Team USA and Canada face each other. The two Olympics’ rosters are filled with NBA veterans. So, Barack Obama decided to make a live appearance and icons piled up one after the other to click a picture with him. However, the highlight was Dawn Staley’s hilarious attempt to click a selfie with the former President!
Barack Obama dapped up Team USA before the game started, which was very similar to the famous parody skit by comedian Jordan Peele and Keegan-Michael Key. It was about how the former President tended to greet every member around him differently. In a live enactment of the sketch, Obama’s dap with LeBron James, Stephen Curry, Anthony Edwards, and the rest of Team USA went instantly viral until he met Dawn Staley on the sidelines.
The women’s head coach of the South Carolina Gamecocks pulled out her phone to click a picture with Obama. Well, that was her best chance. But, technology is always a bit of a hindrance. Staley was struggling to click a selfie, but after some assistance from an audience member, her dream picture was finally saved in the gallery.

Head coaches Steve Kerr and assistant Erik Spoelstra are heading the team from the front. To support them, legendary Olympics coach Mike Krzyzewski and San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich showed up as well. Coach K was a part of Team USA from 2006 to 2016. He delivered 3 gold medals in his tenure. Interestingly, Barack Obama is quite confident in the team’s capabilities this time as well. Despite big names like Kawhi missing out and Jaylen Brown not making the squad, the ex-President emitted positivity.
“I’m pretty confident that they’re going to be bringing back the gold and representing us the way we should be represented around the world,” Obama said. Although Kevin Durant is not playing today because of a calf injury, his mother Wanda made sure she supported Team USA in Las Vegas as well. Los Angeles Lakers’ GM Rob Pelinka and their latest HC JJ Redick, were in the game too.
