The LeBron James vs. Michael Jordan GOAT debate never seems to end. Having played in different eras and never crossing paths, there is no actual way to determine who the better player is between the two except by comparing their accolades. Regardless, fans and the media love to indulge in that discussion with every chance they get. It was also the case when the famous series House of the Dragon’s showrunner drew a unique connection between LeBron and the show, leaving the community buzzing.

Just a few days before the premiere of its second season, House of the Dragon’s showrunner Ryan Condal called Vhagar (a dragon on the show) ‘The LeBron James of Dragons’. Revealing what led to him making that comparison, he said, “She makes the whole team better… Vhagar is a big threat.” Throughout his career, LeBron has been known to bring the best out of his teammates with his leadership. While he is one of the greatest scorers the world has ever seen, he sets himself apart with his playmaking ability.

Because of that, LBJ has led teams many believed were not good enough, to the Finals. Due to those attributes, Condal sees a bit of Bron in the Queen of All Dragons, Vhagar. With her name inspired by one of the Gods of Valyria, Vhagar was initially part of a group of three dragons and was the smallest of them all.

Yet, there was never a doubt about her ferociousness, as even as she could swallow whole horses and melt armors with her deadly flames. A century later, Vhagar is the only dragon who managed to survive and has now become the largest and deadliest living dragon in the House of the Dragon universe. And that does have a resemblance with LeBron as his longevity, which can even be considered mythical to some extent, has helped him dominate for over two decades.

Fans reveal the ‘Michael Jordan of Dragons’ after Ryan’s LeBron analogy

After Ryan Condal compared Vhagar to LeBron James, fans could not help but wonder which dragon Michael Jordan would resemble on the show. And of course, fans rose in unison to compare MJ to the most powerful dragon of all that was ridden by King Aegon I Targaryen, Balerion. And one fan brought up the question, “So Balerion is Jordan?”

And most fans seemed to agree with this analogy with comments coming in like, “Which makes Balerion the Black Dread the Michael Jordan of Dragons. The biggest and baddest of all dragons. Makes sense!” and “Yeah, that’s a good analogy Vhagar is the best currently but Balerion (MJ) was the bigger and stronger dragon lmao.”

Meanwhile, one fan went deeper into the comparison and claimed that LeBron could kill Daemon Targaryen. However, he believes that Vhagar might not be able to do what LeBron did in 2016, that is beat a 73-win Warriors team after going down 1-3.

And one House of the Dragon fanatic believes the comparison to be very apt because Vhagar’s presence has kept Team Green in the war just like LeBron kept the Cavs in title contention throughout his time there. Remove him from the Cavs and where does the team stand?

Meanwhile, one fan claimed that LeBron is such a generational player that he is now being compared to mythical creatures. So, maybe LeBron is really the GOAT of basketball.

And one netizen just commended Ryan Condal for making this unique comparison, which is a great marketing strategy and did the job by putting more eyeballs on the upcoming season and also sparking a Jordan vs. LeBron debate.

While Vhagar is currently the most powerful dragon on the show, during Aegon’s conquest, no dragon matched the aura and abilities of Balerion. With his black wings and black fire, the Black Dread could melt stone and steel like it was nothing. And with a wingspan big enough to cast a shadow on towns, no one wanted to mess with Balerion. Sounds somewhat like the aura Jordan had back in the 90s when he was winning titles after titles with no opponent being able to stop him. While LeBron has been the King of the NBA during his time, fans still believe that Jordan was still superior. Do you agree?
