Ayesha Curry couldn’t resist adding her signature humor to this year’s Thanksgiving celebration. Sharing her husband Stephen Curry’s heartfelt Instagram collage of their family, she joked on her Instagram stories, “Grateful, grateful, grateful. (Still trying to figure out how I managed to have four kids at my young ripe age of 21.)”.
In a May 2021 episode of Skimm’d From The Couch, Ayesha had opened up about her experience getting married and starting a family at a young age. The mom of four, who married NBA star Stephen Curry in 2011, said it’s “always felt right” to tie the knot so young, but it forced her to “make a lot of decisions.”
“What I started to realize was I was becoming this woman at such a young age when other people would still potentially be in college or just figuring out who they want to be. I was getting married and having kids and it got to a point when I was like, I’ve spent my whole life since I was a little girl attempting to play these other people and auditioning to be these other people that I don’t even know what I like or who I am because I’ve spent my whole life, trying to figure out how to be somebody else,” Ayesha had said. While together with Stephen, Ayesha might have navigated the challenge, Steph Curry had some problems with naming his 4 kids.

The 2x MVP’s children’s names follow a pattern. Two of the kids’ names start with ‘R’ and the other two begin with ‘C’. There is an interesting reason behind it as well. Curry made an appearance on the Warriors Sound podcast and revealed the reason behind this naming scheme.
“So when we first got pregnant and I just for our first child, we thought it was a boy at first. So Canon was always a name that we just liked. But then I found out it was a girl. Riley was our our name of choice, wanted to keep the consistency with ours and that’s where Ryan came from. And then when we found out, we were having a boy. It was an automatic Canon,” explained Curry.
Steph feels naming kids is harder than making clutch threes from way beyond the arc. “Like naming kids is hard and you get hard down, you know, you have nine months to figure it out, and even with Chai I think we were four or five days in, uh, before we actually got to, is that right? Yeah, for the four days,” he further added. He talked about how each of them has such a unique personality and how they constantly find new ways to make their presence felt in the family. It’s like every day, they surprise him with something new, and he’s just soaking it all in. However, for Ayesha, balancing motherhood with her career ambitions was not an easy task.
“I always had this feeling of like, I think that there’s a double duty that I could be playing here as I was like, I have hopes and dreams for myself and there’s gotta be a way to do both,” she said. “I felt this weird bug, like this entrepreneurial bug.” The Food Network star said that she sat down with her husband, mom, and mother-in-law to have a “long conversation” about how she could serve her family and her dreams. Ultimately, she decided to start a blog to share her recipes, which she says started to grow and grow and grow. Ayesha was fortunate enough to have Stephen by her side in all this.
“It kind of became my career very naturally and organically. And my husband was like, ‘Hey, I think you can do this.’ I was very scared and frightened and gently dove in and now it’s become a whole career, which I love,” Ayesha said. Walking on that Ayesha eventually became a New York Times bestselling author and a cooking television personality. She also runs a magazine and a foundation to end childhood hunger.
