If one word could define Ayesha Curry, it would be “Superwoman.” No, seriously, is there any role she hasn’t taken on? Chef, check. Author, check. Actress, check. Entrepreneur, check. Perfect wife, check. Perfect mother, check. The list just goes on. But if she had to choose one thing to put above it all, it would be her relationship with Stephen Curry. 13 years of love, trust, and partnership can’t be replaced by anything for Ayesha, not even motherhood. She is crystal clear about it. There might be judgments coming her way, but an NFL legend agreed with her stance.

The discussion was sparked by Shannon Sharpe on the Nightcap podcast. The 56-year-old host read Ayesha’s quote from her recent interview with People, which took place at the Sweet July pop-up in San Francisco. “I think for us, our relationship always comes first; then we’re parents, and that works for us because then you have two happy people raising kids in a house,” Ayesha told the media house. “So, the family sector in our lives always comes first.”

Usually, Sharpe tries to stay out of people’s lives because he believes “to each their own.” But then he shared what people sometimes tell him when he forced his daughter Kayla to remove her tattoo. “I do my very best to stay out of people’s homes right their relationships how they do things because a lot of people, you know, ‘Hey man, I can’t believe you did that to your daughter; I can’t believe that’s how you was.”

Sharpe further continued, “But that’s how I was. That’s my home, that’s how I raised, that’s how I brought my kids up,” Sharpe said. Though he hasn’t been married, he believes in the concept, “We, first, we’re going to make sure we’re happy. Then, if we’re happy, everything is in unison with us; the kids are gonna be Gucci.”

Ayesha Curry would surely be flattered to hear the kind of mindset shared by Sharpe. Besides discussing her priorities, Ayesha also spoke about the type of people who help run her brand in the interview.

“Honestly, it’s just surrounding ourselves with people that are smarter than us and know what they’re doing and can make the things run,” Ayesha stated. “And they allow us the space to be creative and they allow us the space to truly show up however we choose to. And I think that’s what’s really worked for us.” Then she quickly added, “We’re not control freaks. We have ideas, but we’re willing to let people help us see those ideas into fruition.” That’s exactly what has driven her success in the fashion industry.
