If you had one wish from a genie, you’d have liked to be Damian Lillard. Because that’s how wild his last 24 hours have been. First, the NBA Cup win in Vegas on Tuesday Night, with which came a sweet $500K bonus and now he is set for life. No, not with the $500K, of course, but with the latest endorsement move that has sent social media into a frenzy.
According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, “Milwaukee Bucks All-Star Damian Lillard has agreed to a lifetime contract extension with Adidas, sources told ESPN. Lillard now joins LeBron James and Kevin Durant (Nike) and Stephen Curry (Under Armour/Curry Brand) as active NBA players with lifetime shoe endorsements.” The Milwaukee guard already has a $112,582,870 contract with his franchise but the deal with the $24 billion brand has him covered for the long haul.
Lillard re-signed with Adidas back in 2014 to a reported $100 deal that stretched to this year. At the time it was the largest shoe deal after Derrick Rose’s 13-year, $185 million contract with Adidas. Now over a decade later, Dame is still counting his dollars with the brand and that will now stretch for a lifetime. Since the announcement was made public, fans have celebrated with Dame on this day of massive significance.

Another fan highlighted, “This is what winning does kids…. you win and the rest falls in line. Gets his first Championship and the very next day a lifetime contract!!” While calling the In-Season Tournament a championship win would be inaccurate, it undoubtedly is a big accomplishment.
The 34-year-old supported Giannis on offense, scoring 23 points along with four rebounds and assists each. Lillard also maintained an impressive shooting percentage of 50% from both the field (6-of-12) and beyond the arc (5-of-10). So, it’s safe to say that his performance in the tournament played a vital role in bagging him the deal
“Lillard secures a lifetime deal with Adidas—joining the elite ranks of NBA stars with iconic shoe endorsements!” someone commented. LeBron has had a lifetime deal with Nike since 2015, and KD secured his own lifetime deal with the sneaker brand in April of last year. Similarly, Curry is also bound to Under Armour for the long haul. Now, Lillard will be enjoying the same benefits with Adidas and the fan feels that he has earned it.
