Can Trae Young's brilliance save the Hawks from their spiraling losing streak?

The Atlanta Hawks take on the New Orleans Pelicans tonight, the Hawks are coming into this one with four consecutive defeats and will hope to finally get back to winning ways. On the other hand, the Pelicans grabbed a win after losing three on the spin, thanks to Zion Williamson‘s great performance as he netted 34 points and also facilitated 10 assists.

After the game Zion was asked about him and Ingram taking the offensive burden of the team due to so many injuries, and his response was, “Yes and no, because we still trust our teammates that are out there um but it is definitely more of there’s a slightly bigger responsibility on us to had to take on and I mean for us it’s fun just go out there and hoop.” Acknowledging the task that was in front of the New Orleans duo, they stood on their business getting the win for the team.

At the same time, Atlanta’s top performer has been Trae Young and their HC shared the same thought after the loss against Sacramento as Quin Synder said, “He was unbelievable. and not diminishing other guys’ efforts, but that was a hell of a performance. And we shouldn’t lose track of that because we lost the game, okay?” Giving Young his flowers which he deserves for the 25 points and 12 assists he had on the night.

Both the teams are pretty banged missing a good number of players and the season is still very young and that’s not a good sign. This could be one of the major reasons why they haven’t been able to perform at their best yet and hope this changes soon. Let’s take a look at both injury reports and get a better idea of their rosters and player availability.

New Orleans Pelicans Injury Report

The Pelicans have a long injury list, even missing a few starters including CJ McCollum and Dejounte Murray. McCollum is out for at least two to three weeks due to a right adductor strain and Murray on the other hand underwent a successful hand surgery and is expected to miss around four to six weeks as per Shams Charania.

Jordan Hawkins is also questionable for tonight’s clash as the shooting guard is suffering from a back issue. Then we have Herbert Jones who sustained a right shoulder strain and a small low-grade partial-thickness tear in his rotator cuff and will miss two to four weeks of action. The final name on the list is Trey Murphy III, out with a hamstring injury and is now in the rehab process.

Atlanta Hawks Injury Report

Well, if you thought the Pelicans were suffering from an injury plague you are in for a much bigger surprise for Atlanta’s report. Let’s start with Dyson Daniels, who could return to the court as he is on day-to-day now after suffering from a hip injury. Next are De’Andre Hunter and Cody Zeller, Hunter has been ruled out ahead of the Pelicans game due to a knee injury and Zeller won’t play as well due to personal reasons.

Seth Lundy is out due to an ankle injury, followed by Kobe Bufkin who is out with a shoulder injury. Then on the list, we have Bogdan Bogdanovic, out with a hamstring injury and will be re-evaluated in four weeks, Vit Krejci as announced by the Hawks is suffering from a thigh injury, and at last of the list is Dominick Barlow, out with back issue.

This will be a close game as both teams are suffering from several injuries on their roster. As for the Hawks Trae Young will have to keep his good form in order to get his team back on winning terms. Whereas, Williamson and Ingram will have to carry the offensive load of their team with new acquisition Murray and their starter McCollum both out for tonight’s clash. However, the Pelicans look like slight favorites given the home advantage and Atlanta’s poor run.
