The Golden State Warriors will soon be travelling to the Moda Center in Portland to take on the Trail Blazers. This will be the Warriors’ third last game before the play-in series, in which they have secured a position thanks to their 44-35 W/L record. Looking to add another win to their name before the end of the regular season, the team will be looking to put up an offensive front with the might of their full roster. From the looks of the recent Injury Report, however, the team may or not have to go into the matchup without the presence of one of their key players.

‘The Athletic’ reporter Anthony Slater took to his official X account a few hours ago to highlight the recent update put out by the Warriors. He conveyed the information that power forward Draymond Green has been listed as “questionable” for the upcoming game in light of a right knee contusion. While this is not what Warriors fans expected, they will rejoice in the fact that the rest of the main roster has been cleared of any major injuries and will be available to play.

The 34-year-old had mainly been having issues with his back during the course of the regular season. While the same seemed to have been a thing of the past for quite some time, his injury made a comeback during the Warriors’ recent clash against the Utah Jaaz, which forced him to return to the locker room. Fortunately, the Warriors were able to recover and win the game by 8 points. With the latest right knee contusion, however, it’s tough to say whether Green would manage to take on the Trail Blazers. Even if he managed to make himself healthy enough, the Warriors would still choose to bench him in order to ensure that he remains available during the play-in series.

On the other hand, Stephen Curry was not available during the Jazz game, as he had been declared “out” on the Injury Report. The break was provided in light of the high stakes that the team faced during their then next game against the Lakers. Now, however, Curry is back to being absent from the Injury Report and available to take on Anfernee Simons and Co.

Speaking of Simons, the Trail Blazers’ highest average scorer unfortunately continues to remain in the ‘out’ category of the Injury Report due to his knee injury. He is joined in that category by another lead scorer Jerami Grant, point guard Malcolm Brogdon and shooting guard Matisse Thybulle.

But, with Green’s probable absence, will the team be able to put up as intense a fight? Well, for that we’ll have to look at how the 34-year-player has assisted his team against the Trail Blazers in the past.

How has Draymond Green faired against the Portland Trail Blazers?

During his last 10 matchups with the Portland Trail Blazers, Draymond Green and the Warriors had managed to secure a 7-3 record against them. While Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and others did their effort to keep up the offensive front, Green provided his own significant contribution whilst mostly concentrating on the defensive front. During those matchups, the power forward’s average score stood at 6.8 points, 7.3 rebounds and 7.6 assists. His shooting ability remained on par with his teammates, with his field goal percentage standing at 41.7% and his field throws at 68.4%.

During his last matchup against the Trail Blazers back in December 2023, Green had come really close to recording a triple double with his 10 points, 10 rebounds and 9 assists. While he had made two or more 3 pointers during his previous three games then, the player had gone 0-2 against the Blazers. However, he made up for it with his 4-4 field throws.
