In an interaction with CNBC Events, speaking about owning an NBA team, Kevin Durant said, “You gotta have a lot of capital for it. And it’s about having good people. That’s all you hear when you hear the people speak up over here.”

When asked about whether he’d like to bring back an NBA team to Seattle, a team that he was on for nine years, Durant said, “That would be cool, in a perfect world. Whatever opportunity comes up, hopefully, I can be part of something special.”

He continued, “Seattle would be the ideal spot. They deserve to have a team there again. I would love to be a part of the NBA in that fashion.”

Interestingly, Seattle no longer has an NBA team. Their team, the Seattle Supersonics, shifted to Oklahoma in 2008 once the team was sold to the Professional Basketball Group.

Durant and Others Have NBA-Themed Businesses

Durant has earlier voiced his support for an NBA team for Seattle in media interactions as well. If Kevin Durant invests in an NBA team, it will not be the first time an NBA player plans or executes the plan of owning a team. Durant’s colleague, LeBron James has declared that his retirement plan was to own an NBA team.
