The Spurs faced off against the Warriors and they lost 102-112. San Antonio had gotten the upper hand on the Golden State on Saturday as they crushed the Dubs 126-113 despite not having Victor Wembanyama. The Warriors still missed Stephen Curry, but Wemby suited up and finished with a double-double (27 points and 14 rebounds along with three assists). But that wasn’t enough for tonight. And it seems like Gregg Popovich might have been a little irritated with the fact.
He didn’t bother hiding that in the post-game presser either. As reporters kept bombarding him with questions regarding what led to the loss, he burst with, “Are there any questions that might make sense? I’d be happy to answer them.“

Everybody acquainted with the Spurs’ legendary coach will know a thing or two about his irritation with interviews. And that’s putting it mildly. Oftentimes, more so after a loss, Pop gets snappy with reporters. It’s not the first, nor is it going to be the last. Perhaps a notable instance occurred on the team’s loss to Memphis on November 21, 2018.
Again, the Spurs had lost 102-103 and Gregg Popovich wasn’t in a good mood. The reporter, for his part, had unfortunately asked the hot-headed coach about him being adamant about utilizing the mid-range rather than changing his ways in tune with the changing style in the league. Suffice it to say that the reporter might have very well been asking for a lifetime restraining order.
In typical Pop fashion, he answered, “It’s like Fox News or MSNBC or CNN talking heads … It takes forever. You want us to know everything you know first before asking the question. I already forgot the beginning. Have a good night.” Apparently, Gregg Popovich does not like long questions either.
But that doesn’t phase the reporters in the slightest. After all, one gets used to the Hall of Fame coach’s testy side after a while.

Klay Thompson gets back in the starting lineup, and hits the 200th three-pointer in the process, making it the ninth time he has done so and placing himself right behind Steph who has made the record 11 times. Thompson finished the night with 21 points, two assists, and rebounds each. But that was just the beginning of the Dubs warming up.

The Spurs, with Wembanyama also back in the game, hoped they could repeat the same dominant performance from two nights ago. With that in mind, the Spurs started off strong, finishing the first quarter at 37-29. But that would be the last they would go over 25 in the coming quarters. Although the Frenchman gave it his all, the Warriors were determined to spoil all the efforts.

Chris Paul almost had a triple-double tonight, with 19 points, eight assists, and nine rebounds. Andrew Wiggins looked like the player the team wanted him to be since the start, contributing 16 points on 6-of-8 shooting. But the biggest moment came when Trayce-Jackson Davis slammed a posterizing dunk on the 7’4 Wemby, as he finished with a double-double of his own (13 points, 10 rebounds) and five assists.
Just like that, they owned the San Antonio Spurs at their home ground.
