Is Anthony Edwards risking his NBA career with these risky recreational activities?

In the 2000s, it was Kevin Garnett and Randy Moss; now, it’s Anthony Edwards and Justin Jefferson. The two beacons have injected a dreamy air of hope into Minnesota. They are not only dominating their sport but also working their way to becoming global stars. To mark the new age, they are rumored to be mirroring an image of KG and Moss that holds immense significance, denoting an incoming shift in the sports landscape of the city. However, not everyone is happy with the recreation.

Ma$e, the ‘What You Want’ artist expressed his disappointment over the budding stars’ “bad decisions”. His disapproval wasn’t related to Anthony Edwards and Jefferson’s potential to carry a new era. He was merely frustrated by the lack of creativity shown by them and urged the NBA’s magnetic star to conjure a path that’s symbolic to him, rather than taking a page out of someone else’s works.

“These are just bad decisions after bad decisions. I really love Ant-Man as a basketball player. These are bad decisions. I mean just putting yourself in different lights, it just adds unwanted pressure. You know just like when he does the commercial that’s like Jordan. It’s like why make that commercial… You’re recreating a lot of things but my concern is that you are going to get lost in this because we are not going to know who you are. And when trouble hits we won’t know who you are to stand with you,” said Ma$e on Come and Talk 2 Me.

Kevin Garnett might agree with Anthony Edwards making bad decisions. His recent comment about past payers not being “skilled” infuriated the Timberwolves icon. Not only did he respond with disdain, but he did so by directly calling out Edwards, claiming “If I’m being honest bro, I don’t think anybody in this generation could’ve played 20 years ago. And I’m being 100. And this is to Ant, this is to everybody in our league”.

However, at the same time, history is vital when it comes to sports. When the Big Ticket and Moss began to flourish, Minnesota experienced something reinvigorating. After all the adversity, it was rejuvenating to see sports thrive again, with the duo lightening the spirits. Now, Anthony Edwards and Jefferson are on the verge of recreating the same. And it has already been approved by Garnett.

Kevin Garnett has been longing for the Anthony Edwards-Justin Jefferson recreation since last year

To Ma$e, Edwards and Jefferson might be mimicking an iconic frame. But Minnesota fans have longed for them to do so since last year. ESPN was the first to reintroduce Garnett and Moss’ Sports Illustrated cover, to which fans demanded the modern-day tandem to do the same.

Back then, the former Celtics forward provided his seal of approval to the two blossoming Minnesota stars. “They should run it,” he wrote. At that time, maybe the duo didn’t have enough stripes to convince fans of a new dawn. That narrative has changed significantly.

Since then, the Vikings wide receiver has racked up more receiving yards and receptions than any player in NFL history in their first three years. Similarly, Anthony Edwards just played some of his most sublime basketball. He led the Timberwolves to the Conference Finals for the first time since KG and even played a pivotal role in Team USA’s gold conquest in Paris.

Saf to say, that both of them are carving a path of stardom and success for themselves. Hence, this might just be the ideal time to commemorate the beginning of a new, thriving era in Minnesota sports.
