“HEISMAN LOADING…” Travis Hunter called it last year on Instagram. And he backed up his bold claim last night by taking the prestigious trophy home. Well deserved indeed. Although the star wide receiver suits up for the Colorado Buffaloes and has no ties with the NBA, his historic accomplishment brought forth a surprising connection with Anthony Edwards.

During the red carpet event, Hunter was asked who he thinks his NBA comparison was. He immediately replied, “NBA comp? I like KD (Kevin Durant).” However, he switched his answer after giving it a second thought. “Wait, hold on. Nah. Anthony Edwards. That’s who I’m going with – AE.”

Well, the two stars do have a similar competitive mindset and are The Man on their respective teams. Moreover, Hunter also has that special Georgia connection with Ant-Man. Obviously, Edwards is a Georgia native born and raised in Atlanta. He also represented the Bulldogs during his maiden college season before starting his pro career. Meanwhile, Hunter is from South Florida but moved to the Atlanta region in the eighth grade to join the Collins Hill High School.

Sure enough, Hunter turned into an instant sensation in Georgia, boasting a state title and an undefeated season, making him the top-ranked recruit. Even while receiving the Heisman Trophy, he did not forget to thank his loved ones in Georgia, “To all my Collins Hill homies, coaches, teachers, I thank y’all. Y’all shined a light on me. You helped me get everything I needed and everything I wanted out of football.”

Adding to the state’s sports legacy, Hunter became the sixth athlete with Georgia ties to win the Heisman trophy. With Travis and Ant-Man’s connection coming to light, many of you might wonder if the two stars will ever link up. Maybe!

Anthony Edwards’ NFL dream and Travis Hunter’s bold claim could result in a historic crossover

Apart from deeming Edwards his NBA comparison, Hunter also boldly claimed, “Sport that I couldn’t play? I could play all of them.” Well, he certainly has the confidence of Ant-Man because the Wolves star also believes he can make a switch to the NFL in the future. During comedian Marco Summers’ ‘Open Thoughts’ show last year, Edwards claimed he “might be the first” player to have a career in both leagues.

And he could take that leap once he wins a ring in the NBA, “First I gotta handle my business in the NBA… as a time, Minnesota organization, we want to win a championship. After that, we’ll figure that out.”

Edwards even made a pitch to legend Peyton Manning during his recent Olympics campaign, “Wide receiver. If you ever need me, call me.” Moreover, Ant was a decent football player during his childhood and there were even online clips of him playing for the Atlanta Vikings and dominating the competition.

So, the idea of switching careers might not be too far-fetched. Well, that could mean Edwards going head-to-head against Hunter someday. Do you want the two Georgia studs to face each other?
