The entire hoop community was heartbroken when Anthony Edwards pulled out of the All-Star Game at the last minute. The reason? A groin soreness that has been bothering him for some time. “My groin’s been messed up for a little minute.” He told the media. But following the week-long break, Ant-Man was finally healthy and back in action tonight as the Timberwolves faced the Rockets. Unfortunately, Edwards’ comeback did not go as planned as he got into a heated altercation with a Rockets fan, risking a major penalty from the NBA.

Yes, as the Wolves were heading to the tunnel at the end of the first half, Edwards turned around and began chirping at someone. Speculations are that it was a fan sitting courtside. Well, both went back and forth, and the situation escalated when Ant-Man began charging at the fan, even clinching his fists, all ready to fight. He had to be held back by Wolves staff as a Houston Police official stood in the middle to avoid any mishap.

Meanwhile, the on-air announcers pointed out that Edwards was interacting with a fan on the other side of the court earlier in the game. Well, this incident could add to the list of troubles that Ant-Man has gotten himself into this season. So far, he has been fined a total of $285,000 for his controversial antics, including using obscene gestures and publicly cursing out the officials. And tonight’s altercation with the fan could hurt his pockets yet again.

Of course, the emotions from both sides were justified because Rockets vs Wolves is slowly turning into a brewing NBA rivalry between two young teams. Earlier this month, when the two teams faced each other in Minnesota, Edwards was constantly taunting the Rockets after blowing them out by thirteen points. Seconds before the final whistle, Ant-Man opened his arms riling up the fans to cheer louder as he pulled out a victory dance in the middle of the court, adding salt to the Rockets’ wounds. Moreover, he even got into a heated tussle with Dillon Brooks.

Anthony Edwards called Dillon Brooks out for his “Dirty S—” Antics

Well, Edwards was extra hyped about his win over the Rockets in Minnesota because earlier in the game, he got into a heated battle with Brooks. During one of the plays, Ant-Man fell to the floor as Brooks seemingly hit him in the face while guarding him. This led to them getting into a shoving match seconds later as they tugged on each other’s jerseys. Sure enough, the ref had to intervene as Brooks and Edwards continued the trash-talk. Later in the game, when Dillon was called for flopping, Edwards didn’t hesitate to call him out for his antics.

He even addressed it during the post-game presser, “Everybody know how Dillon Brooks is, man. He play dirty. He’s a competitor. I love the competing part, but all the slick little dirty s—.” Maybe, this is the reason Rockets fans have begun feeling a certain way about Edwards. Unfortunately, he wasn’t able to back up his trash talk tonight. Although Edwards played well and scored 37 points, the Rockets got their revenge and defeated the Wolves by six points. So, it was a tough night for Ant-Man from start to finish. And it could get even worse if he is fined for his altercation with the fan. What are your thoughts?
