Anthony Edwards' dream isn't just gold—should Coach Kerr make it happen for him in Paris?

It might not be a surprise that Team USA has been breezing through the group stage of the Olympics with the star-studded lineup they have. On the not so good side, this means less playing time for some of the players. The fact that their favourite player is not in the starting lineup can be a hard pill to swallow for some fans and can even cause tensions among players, but it does not seem to bother Kevin Durant. KD, despite his superstar status, has no problems coming off the bench for Team USA. And guess who is happy about Durant being brought off the bench? His second unit bestie, Anthony Edwards.

I love that he’s coming off the bench. I get to play with him, so I hope coach keeps bringing him  off the bench. I get to pass it to him. He gets to pass it back. That’s probably one of my biggest dreams ever, so that’s dope.” Anthony Edwards said. Edwards’ explosive athleticism combined with Durant’s sharpshooting would be an apt combination for a tantalizing duo. So, this was more like a plea from Anthony Edwards to coach Kerr, to keep his dream going.

Moreover, Anthony Edwards and Kevin Durant have been cooking up a brotherly bond between them in the Paris Olympics. According to Brian Windhorst, “Ant Edwards is trailing Kevin Durant around like a big brother,”

As a close observer of Team USA in the Paris Olympics, Windhorst has been keeping a close watch on everything that’s going on with team USA. “Literally, Ant gets off the bus with Durant, warms up with him, stands next to him before practice. It’s like Ant cannot get enough of him,” Windhorst added.

Also, there’re rumours that Kevin Durant is not happy with the Suns. So, with Edwards and Durant’s friendship brewing, the chances for potential trade in the future are ramping up.

Durantula in the Olympics

Even though Kevin Durant has been coming off the bench, he is able to bring his A game every time he steps into the court. Kevin Durant entered the second game against South Sudan, riding high from his dominant performance against Serbia. With barely missing a shot from the field and being defensively active, the slim reaper showcased how deep his bag was in that game.

Even though Durant could not dominate like he did in the game against Serbia, he played a well-rounded game against South Sudan. The forward came off the bench to score 14 points, including three assists and three steals. Sure enough, tensions were high due to the increased stakes and things got chirpy between Durant and South Sudan’s coach, Royal Ivey, in the middle of the game.

The veteran forward said, “Y’all n**gas ain’t tough,” implying that the South Sudan team was not as tough as they claimed to be. Though they both indulged in a banter during the game, KD made sure that everything was A-ok between him and his ex-teammate. “It’s just banter. We hugged it out after the game.” Durant concluded.

With their second win in the Paris Olympics, team USA looks unstoppable. What are your thoughts on them?
