‘Starting 5′, the NBA documentary that dives deep into players’ lives will finally be released on Netflix on October 9th. Fans have been eagerly waiting for this series as the first look gives an exciting feel to it. Moreover, Anthony Edwards, the young superstar in Minnesota will be making his Netflix comeback. The 23-year-old recently played the role of Kermit Wilts, who was somewhat of a villain, in the 2022 movie, Hustle, starring Adam Sandler, and another NBA player, Juancho Hernangomez. But what’s interesting is that this series will also include the happenings of this past postseason.
We all witnessed Edwards sweep Kevin Durant‘s Suns in the first round of the playoffs. If anything, ANT was taking the postseason by storm at the time. He averaged 31 points, 8 rebounds, and 6.3 assists while shooting over a whopping 43% from deep. Not to mention, KD was Edward’s favorite player growing up and still is. In fact, the series also features a clip from the first round series in which ANT is seen challenging KD on the floor. “It won’t get that easy no more, K.”, ANT told KD while guarding him.

It will interesting to see the insights from ANT’s best postseason run of his career so far. Not only ANT, but the series also follows LeBron James, Jayson Tatum, Jimmy Butler, and Domantas Sabonis on and off the court. This isn’t the first time Netflix has released such a series. ‘Quarterback’ and ‘Receiver’ are amongst the Netflix shows that feature NFL players’ lives on and off the field. Regardless, it will be interesting to watch Anthony Edwards in Starting 5.
The former number-one pick rose to popularity quite drastically. In the last two seasons, Edwards has made the case for one of the top shooting guards in the league. And rightfully so. He had a phenomenal postseason run recently and even made it to the MVP conversation. ANT and the Wolves are strong contenders in the West and are looking to make yet another deep postseason run this upcoming season.
Anthony Edwards is one of the favorites to win the MVP next year
With the MVP race including the next-generation players, Edwards has established his name quite early. Going up against players like Jokic, Embiid, SGA, and Doncic, Edwards will be looking forward to winning his first. Kendrick Perkins, the former champ is rooting for ANT’s MVP season. “Anthony Edwards is out to go get his. He wants to win. But this year, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he leads the league in scoring, to be honest with you. He’s not waiting on anyone.”, said Perkins.
