After three straight home losses, the Los Angeles Lakers went to face the challenge of being on the road. In a rousing contest against the Utah Jazz, they snapped their ill fortune, grabbing a fifth win on the road this season. As has been the story for most victories, Anthony Davis played an integral role in the Lakers’ triumph, adding 33 points to re-establish his MVP benchmark. However, instead of discussing the win, his mind was stuck in Buffalo.
Davis appeared in front of the media to speak about the Lakers’ cutthroat one-point win over the Jazz. But it came to a short pause as AD was watching the Buffalo Bills’ routing of the San Francisco 49ers. Being an avid fantasy player, the daunting center chose the Bills’ defense in his lineups.
Only moments before, a “funny” message from his wife saw Davis interrupt the media for a few seconds. But he was delighted after watching the Bills defense execute a perfect play for him. “Another fumble Buffalo guy, I got Buffalo defense fantasy. Sorry,” he told the media.

It was among the three fumbles the Bills defenses forced tonight. Davis celebrated the last and probably the most stunning of them all. 49ers’ Kyle Juszczyk was within a stride of getting a touchdown before Bills safety Taylor Rapp stripped him and regained possession for Buffalo. Given Josh Allen, a QB who delivered five touchdowns on the night, the Bills won the game 10-35 on their snowy home turf. And for Davis, it meant six points to his fantasy tally, a great day in the office.
Aside from sharing America’s crazy obsession with fantasy football, Anthony Davis is also a passionate NFL fan. In particular, he has supported the Green Bay Packers since his rookie season, which began with his close friendship with former Packers receiver Randall Cobb in college. His love for the sport also translates to him obsessing over Madden, a game Davis plays with pride.
Anthony Davis leads the Lakers in emphatic win over the Jazz
Coming back to basketball, the Lakers, who were shorthanded, only played with a nine-man. Austin Reaves missed the contest due to a pelvic injury. D’Angelo Russell and Cam Reddish also weren’t available because of illness. Hence, the focus returned to their star tandem, LeBron James and Anthony Davis needing to put on another clinique. And they did just that.

While James felt he shot the ball ‘horribly’, the Akron Hammer probably made the biggest play of the night for the Purple and Gold. His tough left-handed layup gave the Lakers the cushion to survive two possessions. He added 27 points and 14 assists in the win. In the end, it came down to a dramatic end. Collin Sexton hit a game-winner interrupted by Will Hardy’s timeout.

However, manning the paint was Anthony Davis, among the elite rim protectors of this generation. Despite Sexton making the layup, the Brow felt a certain way about the play. “I don’t know if he would’ve made it. I probably would’ve blocked it,” he told the media after the game. Davis’ 33 points and 11 rebounds double-double was the major influence in the Lakers’ triumph.
Defensively, the Lakers weren’t able to curb the Jazz. Their home team shot the ball better from the field and three-point range. Only Anthony Davis shot over 50% from the four Lakers who did take over 10 shots. Yet, with two starters and their premier bench scorer out, the offense lacked major firepower. In that regard, Max Christie played a crucial role, applying pressure on the rim and going to the line ten times.

Nonetheless, it was a much-needed victory for the Purple and Gold, who have had a tough stretch at home. However, there’s no room to relax for Anthony Davis and Co. Tomorrow, they have their season-opener rematch against the Minnesota Timberwolves, a team with an equal share of problems coming into the contest.
