Being LeBron James’ teammate as an established elite player can bring both pleasure and pain. The amazing basketball player is fortunate to have athletes around him who concede ground to him. When he reached Miami Heat, Wade gave him the keys, and Bosh took the backseat.

The same happened to Kevin Love when he joined the phenom in the Cavaliers. In the long term, such strategies can hit both your accolades and numbers. This also makes fans forget the greatness of players before they joined LeBron and their individual accomplishments.

One other player also sacrificed a ton to win a title.

LeBron James’ teammate had a stellar college career

LeBron’s legacy is incomplete without names like Wade, Bosh, Love, and Kyrie. Before he arrived in Miami and joined Wade, he had not won a title. When he arrived at the Cavaliers, he also needed Kyrie to even out the Steph match-up in the Finals. When he made the decision to join the Lakers, the first season alongside young players like Kuzma, Randle, Lonzo Ball, and Brandon Ingram was on a rocky boat.

Therefore, he needed a superstar-level player once again. The answer came in the form of 6’10 Anthony Davis. After the team got him via trade, the impact couldn’t have been more immediate. During the 2020 Bubble Season, the duo of Davis and James won the NBA championship. Davis’ play in the middle was too much for opposing big men and that helped his team sneak an immense advantage every game.

His defense and the ability to block or alter shots were a huge reason for the Lakers’ success. His mobility on the perimeter is a gift that keeps giving away in a three-point-obsessed league. Davis has led the league in blocks per game three times. His leaping ability and his size both aid in this difficult endeavor. He had developed a taste for blocking shots before entering the league.

He was too much for NCAA players. In a staggering stat line, he had more blocks than most of the college programs.
