LeBron James breaks Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s scoring record—Lakers lose to the OKC Thunder. He becomes the first player ever to join the 40,000-points club—Lakers lose to the Nuggets. Are you sensing a pattern here? Well, Anthony Davis clearly did, as he publicly said last season, “He might have to stop breaking records because we always lose when he breaks a record!” Fortunately, that dreaded curse was finally broken last night as LBJ reached another career milestone, but this time, his team didn’t lose!
Yes, LeBron James passed Michael Jordan to become the all-time leader in 30-point games. The historic feat occurred midway through the fourth quarter, and ironically, the King did it with a turnaround fadeaway jumper, which was one of MJ’s signature moves. Well, he has now scored thirty or more points in a game 563 times, the most by any player ever. But the important thing is, his record-breaking performance came with a win against the Hawks. Unfortunately, AD was not impressed…
When asked how he feels about LeBron breaking Jordan’s record, Davis said postgame, “It bothers me.”

Adding fuel to the fire, he said, “It took him seven more seasons.” Yes, James achieved this feat in 22 seasons, while it took MJ only fifteen years. But LeBron was always a pass-first guy and MJ was arguably the greatest scorer ever. So, why bring it up?
Maybe, AD is still bitter about the Lakers previously losing every time his scoring partner breaks a record. But don’t worry! There is NO brewing animosity between the two teammates.

Turns out, Anthony Davis was just joking when he took the subtle dig and everyone present in the room even had a good laugh about the same. “No, somebody said that earlier but I don’t really think of it like that,” AD added.
Anthony Davis is “grateful” to witness LeBron James’ greatness up close and personal
After the hilarious dig at his teammate, AD revealed his true feelings about LeBron James’ new milestone. “Actually growing up, I was the #1 LeBron (fan), you know that was my era. So, I mean, it’s obviously a hell of an accomplishment. Think he’s probably number one in everything at this point, but as they say, I have been here long enough to witness so many accomplishments, man. So, definitely grateful to be here.”

Yes, Anthony Davis has repeatedly called King James his all-time favorite player despite being a Chicago native. And he is happy to see the hoops legend achieve new milestones, even at age forty.
Meanwhile, LeBron was again honored to be part of history, especially passing a legend like Michael Jordan. “It’s very humbling. Anytime I’m mentioned with any of the greats, and arguably one of the greatest to ever play the game, super cool. I idolized him in my childhood and I wear 23 because of him… It’s super-duper dope for me, being a kid from where I’m from,” he concluded.

At this point, it seems like every time LeBron James steps on the court, the legend adds a new record to his name. And it’s just a testament to his longevity and greatness across decades. And ‘we are all witnesses,’ aren’t we?
