Over a month has passed since Rob Pelinka and Nico Harrison shook the basketball world with the blockbuster Anthony Davis-Luka Doncic trade. The Brow, who is currently recovering from an adductor injury, claims that he has “moved on” from his former team’s betrayal, understanding that it was a business decision. However, his initial reaction was that of shock and utter disbelief as AD realized that he was not ‘untouchable’ after all.

In a detailed conversation with media veteran Dana Larson, Davis revealed his feelings about the trade, “At the end of the day, it’s a business. You know and I understand that. I was just more shocked cause you know I was all like ‘Man, no way they can trade me.’ You know when you’re one of those players and I’m pretty sure on the other side for Luka as well, both of us probably never thought we will be the ones getting traded unless we asked.”

Well, AD thought he would remain the face of the Lakers organization for the foreseeable future, especially after inking a three-year $186 million extension two summers ago. But his belief got shattered after Pelinka traded him for a younger and potentially bigger superstar like Luka. Davis claims that he is trying to forget about the past and focus on the future with each passing day, “Every day that goes, I just forget about it more and more. I don’t try to dwell on the past or worry about anything that could’ve happened. I’m more like in the present type of guy. I’m focused on the Mavs.”

He also revealed that right after the trade, he and Max Christie went to Philadelphia, where the Mavs were at the time, to meet with the team and work on moving past the shocking news, “Just because when you’re alone and I knew my family wasn’t gonna come down right away, so being alone you in a hotel, you start thinking and so many thoughts and things like that. So, you know being around the team just kind of helps speed up the process of kind of forgetting about the past and worrying about the future.”

As of now, the big man is working toward his recovery and a return to the hardwood. As per latest reports, he has been cleared for more on-court movements and is set to be evaluated weekly. So, a comeback seems imminent. However, AD’s past continues to be a topic of discussion, especially with Jeanie Buss’ true intention behind trading him coming to light.

ESPN analyst claims Luka Doncic temptation led to Jeanie Buss’ Anthony Davis betrayal

Well, AD was having a stellar season with the Lakers, averaging 25.7 points and nearly twelve rebounds. So, why trade him? As per team owner Jeanie Buss, “Anthony Davis was complaining about where he was being played and he wasn’t happy. So, I think this was a positive for both teams.” Only a few days before the trade, Davis publicly urged the Lakers to acquire a Center so that he can go back to playing his preferred forward position. And Buss deems it the reason for his departure.

However, ESPN veteran Stephen A. Smith is not buying it, as he claimed, “You traded Anthony Davis because you got a call that you could have Luka Doncic—that’s why you traded him.” Yes, its not often that an opportunity to acquire a generational talent like Luka comes along. And the reality is, Buss pounced on it the moment Nico came knocking on the door, “There is one, and that one reason was there was a superstar—a global, iconic figure—that was averaging 28 a game in his career, one of the all-time great scorers, who became available to you and, oh by the way, happened to be six years younger. That was the reason why. Period.” Whatever the reason, the fact of the matter is that the Lakers have clearly moved on as they have jumped to the second seed with Luka. So, Davis also needs to find his peace in Dallas as he aims to achieve similar success with the Mavs that he did in LA. Do you think he can do it?
