Clippers fans ask for trouble amid the Lakers’ first visit to Intuit Dome. This was something in the making for a long time. Notably, both franchises had a cold rivalry flowing for over the last 24 years. It began ever since they began sharing the same arena for their home games, the Staples Center. Tonight, the Clips took on their arch-rivals for the first time with an actual home-court advantage. And the fans, sitting at ‘The Wall’, use the opportunity to disrespect Anthony Davis.

As we all know, AD has a distinctive nickname, ‘The Brow’ describing his unibrow. On a lighter note, it’s the feature that inspired the making of a character in the film, Space Jam: A New Legacy, starring our very own LeBron James. Nevertheless, coming back to the subject. Tonight, the Clippers fans decided to mock the superstar center’s facial features. They brought a huge cutout of Anthony Davis and cut his unibrow with a huge cardboard trimmer, leaving the rest of the crowd in a frenzy.

Importantly, they pulled this stunt during one of Anthony Davis’ free-throw attempts. The Intuit Dome has a special feature called ‘The Wall’, a stand erected right behind the basket. It’s a 51-row stand, specially designed to improve the homecourt advantage and to intimate the visitors with the boisterous fans.

Following Kevin Durant and several other superstars, AD emerged as their latest victim. However, coming back from an injury break, the big man seemed unfazed by the fans’ disrespect as he made all his FT attempts. Anthony Davis missed the Lakers‘ last game against the Nets, dealing with plantar fasciitis in his left foot. This is a condition that has been nagging him since the start of the season, and the superstar will have to deal with it for longer. Nevertheless, AD wasn’t the only victim that the Wall has tried to intimidate in the past.

‘The Wall’ not only bothered Anthony Davis but Kevin Durant too

The Clippers owner, Steve Ballmer, way before the opening of this grand new arena, said that it was constructed purely by keeping the fans in mind. And rightly so, there can’t be a fan-friendly sports arena that doesn’t accommodate die-hard boisterous fans. In this arena, the management unapologetically made them sit right in front of the players.

So, during the Phoenix Suns‘ recent visit to the Intuit Dome, Kevin Durant faced the fans’ heat. The Wall crowd even made KD miss a free throw. Speaking of which, he said, “Incredible. I loved it. I absolutely love the wall that they got. It’s insane… Steve is doing a great job with this franchise.” Moreover, he also highlighted how The Wall would make a tremendous difference during the postseason.

Above all, one of the interesting features of ‘The Wall’ is that the fans sitting there are season-ticket holders and have access to all home games. So, there’s a possibility that the players can encounter the same set of fans whenever they face the Clippers at the Dome. Truly a home-court advantage. What do you think?
