How quickly the tables turn! It was only last night that Anthony Davis scored a season-high 42 points to lead his team to victory against the Hornets. Sure enough, the Lakers looked dominant as ever, with The Brow taking over. But that feeling did not last long as AD suffered an unfortunate injury during tonight’s Sixers clash, leading to the LA franchise getting blown out on the road. But is this setback a blessing in disguise?

Despite the February deadline approaching, Rob Pelinka has made no significant trades to improve the roster. His biggest move so far was sending D’Angelo Russell and Maxwell Lewis to Brooklyn in exchange for Dorian Finney-Smith and Shake Milton. But that’s not enough to move the needle. That became evident tonight after AD left in the first quarter with an abdominal muscle strain.

Sure, LeBron James did his thing as he went off for 31 points and nine assists. But no other player stepped up to support him. Dalton Knecht was the second-highest scorer with 24 points, but most of his points came during garbage time. There was even a point when LBJ scored 17 straight Laker points, with no help from his teammates.

Well, it’s clear that they need to make a trade to take some load off James and Davis’ shoulders. And AD’s injury could force Pelinka to hear his plea about adding a “big man.” Cameron Johnson and Nikola Vucevic are among the potential options. In the meantime, it turns out, De’Aaron Fox is also reportedly available in the trade block.

However, veteran insider Shams Charania revealed, “I’m told the Lakers are not part of that destination of choice for De’Aaron Fox potentially.” Yes, the All-Star guard, who is owed $34.8 million in salary this year, seems to have no interest in moving to LA.

What’s your perspective on:

With AD injured, should the Lakers finally make a bold trade to save their season?

Obviously, Laker Nation is not pleased with the news and Pelinka is facing the brunt of all the criticism.

NBA World slams Rob Pelinka amid Anthony Davis’ injury and urges Jeanie Buss to “Sell” the team

Sure enough, Fox’s backout is a massive blow because he could have been that third superstar the Lakers need. He is averaging 25.2 points and over six assists. One netizen even pointed out, “Damn, that’s a shame, Fox would’ve been a great addition to the team.” As expected, it has reminded the fans of Pelinka’s constant failure to attract big-name superstars as one wrote, “This front office sucks.”

Meanwhile, Jeanie Buss is also under fire as a fan claimed, “They need to sell this team, they aren’t serious.” Despite their storied history, the Lakers front office failed to lure stars like Klay Thompson and Gary Trent Jr. to the team. And fans are beginning to get frustrated now that Fox has also ruled them out.

Adding to the concerns, there is also a notion brewing that Pelinka could use AD’s injury as an excuse to not go All-In this season. One fan even expected it to happen, “Comedy, was always in the back of my head that Rob been waiting for this sh*t.” But this move would turn Laker Nation completely against the franchise as one netizen wrote, “I won’t watch another game then. I’m over it. Don’t know why I even support a team that’s ran like this.”

So, Rob needs to act, and he needs to act fast. It’s clear Davis prefers playing as a forward, and acquiring a big man could enhance both AD and LeBron’s performance. More importantly, adding another star could make them legitimate contenders. Therefore, a trade might be the best way forward.
