The NBA world experienced a major change in just two days. Even a tweet by Shams Charania wasn’t initially enough to convince people that the Los Angeles Lakers and the Dallas Mavericks traded their key players with each other. Despite the initial shock, the reality slowly settles in: Anthony Davis’s tenure with the Los Angeles Lakers is over. The trade was not his choice, but he remains a pillar of optimism, even with his new roster.

The official Instagram account of the Dallas Mavericks recently uploaded a video message by Anthony Davis and Max Christie. Christie was the other player the Mavs received after they reached a deal to part ways with Luka Doncic, Maxi Kleber, and Markieff Morris. While the players were still on the plane, en route to Texas, the video saw Davis stating the duo’s excitement about joining the new organization.

He assured the fans, “We’re gonna do something special with y’all, man. Win a lot of games. We’re excited, and we can’t wait to get on the floor, support the team, and do what we do best”. The message ended with both players stating “Go Mavs”.

From Stephen Curry and the Warriors crew visibly surprised upon hearing the trade news to Tyrese Haliburton writing “Shams got hacked?”, the trade update was certainly shocking enough to make people do a double-take. As Charania himself highlighted on SportsCenter, “LeBron James had no idea this was coming. Anthony Davis had no idea this was coming. I’m sure Luka Doncic is still stunned about this trade.”

After all, why would the Dallas Mavericks choose to part ways with their lead scorer? Why would they trade him right after the season he and Kyrie Irving helped the team reach the NBA Finals for the first time since 2011!? This was something that Mavs fans were not pleased about, and they didn’t hesitate to make their voices heard.

What’s your perspective on:

Did the Lakers make a huge mistake trading Anthony Davis, or is this a win for the Mavs?

Awful Announcing recently covered how NBA fans took to the streets of Dallas to protest the trade. One Fox 4 News reporter could reach a fan in the protest, who stated, “I’ve been a Mavs fan my whole entire life, since I was a baby. This is the worst moment in the history of my life. This is ridiculous … He’s supposed to have a statue!”

Several other fans screamed “Hell Yeah” in unison over the remarks. On Sunday, Mavs fans hosted a ‘funeral’ outside the American Airlines Center to honor Doncic’s 7 years with the team. Some fans stated that the new management is allegedly putting profit over fans. Others said that the Mavericks’ emotional value has been sucked away. Overall, their dismay and upset nature was there for all to see.

This reaction may have prompted Anthony Davis and Max Christie to upload the video. Or, they simply wanted to share their enthusiasm for starting a new chapter in their NBA journey. However, Mavs fans need to be assured that the team can still play at the same level as before. The only way to do that is for Davis to show what he’s capable of on the court. However, there is still time for that.

NBA Reporter Gives an Update on Anthony Davis’s First Game With the Dallas Mavericks

The Dallas Mavericks had a game only hours after Shams Charania put the official update on X. However, the Center was not present for that game. After all, he and Max Christie had just taken the flight to Texas. Amidst speculation, Berkan MFFL reported that Anthony Davis will probably not play his first Mavs game until February 8.

With Davis continuing to recover from his abdominal muscle strain, his availability status in general is under doubt. His next re-evaluation is set to be on Wednesday. Therefore, Davis should not be expected to make an appearance before that. All’s not lost Mavs fans. You still have a solid team to look forward to. If they avoid injuries to key players, they still have a formidable line-up.

This update rules Anthony Davis ‘OUT’ for the upcoming matchup against the Philadelphia 76ers. It still leaves open the chance for him to be available to take on the Boston Celtics in the game after that. However, since that game will take place in TD Garden, the Mavs home crowd will have to wait a bit longer to see the change Anthony Davis brings.
