Golden State Warriors’ ongoing season has become an abyss of uncertainty once again after a string of wins. Of course, an injured Stephen Curry and Gary Paton are at the center of the Warriors’ misery, but Andrew Wiggins is adding fuel to that fire. Wiggs has not been himself since the 2022 NBA Finals. Even after signing a four-year $109 Million extension with the Dubs, things seem to be going downhill.
Last season Wiggins missed the last 25 games of the season due to a “family matter”, and the same happens this year as he misses games due to “personal reasons”. Neither Wiggs nor the Warriors ever clarified much about this extended absence, however, it seems to have become a pattern. Recently, on the Morning Roast, hosts Bonta and Shasky discussed Wiggins’s woes.
“We all want you to take care of business. We all support you (Wiggins) doing what you do when it comes to personal stuff. But since he’s back, the rhythm is gone again. Now, he’s back down to 29% from the three-point line, now he back down to 39% from the floor and he’s not having an impact on offense or defense,” said Bonta.

While Shasky reiterated, “Guys, jobs are on the line, legacies are on the line for these guys.” The Warriors need Wiggins to be the “second-best” player for the 19 remaining games of the season if they want to make a deep playoff run. Wiggins’s “personal matters” might have deeper consequences, and that’s precisely why even his teammates are not having it.

After the fatal loss against the Bulls, the Warriors were up against the last seed in the Western Conference, the San Antonio Spurs. Despite losing Curry the game prior, the depth of the Warrior’s roster would suggest an easy victory, but that wasn’t the case. After losing the first game against Victor Wembanyama and his boys 126-113, tensions were already mounting, and in the second game of the back-to-back with Spurs, Wiggs had a clash with dubs wonder kid Brandin Podziemski.
After receiving the ball during a fast break, Wiggins opted to not pass to an open Podziemski. The rookie also ran alongside him to assist. However, Wiggs lost the ball in the process. Following that, the duo was involved in a heated exchange on the court. “Come on Wigs!” said Podz and the vet sternly replied “What the f**k is you talking bout ni**a.”
Despite the Warriors winning the game the verbal altercation is an indication of the rising frustrations on the Dubs side. Do you think they will make to the post-season even after the visible rifts?
