Andrew Wiggins is back in the Bay Area. The personal matter that saw Wiggins away from the team seems to have gotten under control. Or at least, that’s what the Warriors forward has to say about it. He revealed that there was a family matter that required his presence at his home.
Talking to the Bay Area sports station, 95.7 The Game, he said, “Andrew Wiggins when asked if the personal matter that’s taken him away from the team has subsided: “Not exactly. But I just have to take it day by day.”

Wiggs hasn’t revealed what exactly the family matter was, but as seen above, he did confirm that it was a slow process. But he seems to be in better spirits than when he left. He was a full participant in practice and will likely be a starter as they play host to the Milwaukee Bucks on Wednesday.
Although Andrew Wiggins missed four games during his absence, the Golden State wasn’t in a tough spot. They won 3 of the 4. And it’s highly unlikely that the 6’7 Canadian would have made much difference in the Celtics matchup. Pretty much anyone else on the team is capable of sagging off of Boston’s second-best player and letting him notch consecutive triples.
Even while Wiggins was away, he made sure to keep in touch with Steve Kerr and VP of Health & Performance, Dr. Rick Celebrini. Clearly, he trusts them to keep their conversations confidential. And that’s one of the reasons why the Golden State Warriors are a popular destination for young hoopers.

A fact that social media does not fail to bring up every chance. But the Warriors franchise has always stood their ground in matters like this.

Wiggs’ appreciation for the franchise was in full display when he was talking about the contract extension in June 2022. He said that there might be a lot of places that say they are one big family, but the Warriors show it with their actions. And Steve Kerr said it the best in regards to Wiggins’ latest absence.

As reported by ESPN’s Kendra Andrews, Kerr said, “I don’t care about the basketball. Life is way more important than the game. The main thing is if any of our players have a life situation where they need to be with their family, then that’s where they’re going to be.”
This is the culture that the dynasty follows and it was apparent during Dejan “Deki” Milojevic’s sudden demise. Two games were postponed for a later date as the team took time to grieve. Kerr and a few other officials were also in Deki’s hometown for the funeral.
