Most of the NBA superstars engage in philanthropic activities and, importantly, the league never fails to recognize it. Every season, the league selects a player and presents them with a Community Assist Award for their charity. At the same time, some kind acts might go unnoticed. Similarly, Milwaukee Bucks star guard Damian Lillard pulled off a wholesome act after the NBA Cup glory and we bring it to you before it goes under the radar. Some fans who knew it already were left in bliss.
The Bucks franchise under Coach Doc Rivers struggled to stitch together a winning formula early in the season. It looked like nothing went in the Wisconsin team’s favor until they found the rhythm back just at the right time. The team went undefeated in the In-Season tournament and ultimately won the NBA Cup by defeating the lethal Oklahoma City Thunder.
One of the key highlights of winning the NBA Cup is that every single player on the roster receives $500k, including the two-way contract players. This season, it wasn’t any different. However, Damian Lillard further made it reassuring when he shared part of his prize money with the Bucks’ cleaning and court staff. Moreover, an online source reported he included the staff who carry the shirt and shoes to the locker room.

Speaking of the act, Damian Lillard said, “I’ve been doing this a long time, so when I get it, I ain’t gonna just blow it or go crazy. It’ll probably go to the support staff, our training staff. The people who come in every day, all day, when we get to go home and try to do something to support them.”
A fan rightly describing the star’s kind act wrote, “An angel.” Let’s find out what fans feel about the gesture.

Some fans associated the act with winning a championship. A fan wrote, “W dame that’s championship mentality.” Of course, for Dame, only winning the NBA Cup Finals seemed like the primary task, as he gave away the enticing prize money to the people who helped him. Truly a sign of championship mentality. Another fan wrote, “My goat deserves a ring now.”
After spending 11 seasons with the Trail Blazers, consistently averaging around 30 ppg, Damian Lillard couldn’t go anywhere closer to the championship ring. And finally, he took the big call to leave his loyalty behind and joined hands with Giannis Antetokounmpo. While the duo has already won an NBA Cup under their partnership, they aren’t far away from a ring.
Another fan put forward their wish, writing, “Buck for life bro” That’s certainly not possible in Lillard’s case. Everyone lauded his loyalty when he struggled with Portland despite his consistent individual performance. However, a few years down the lane, Lillard helped himself with a trade. So, if things go south with the Bucks, Lillard may not hesitate for another trade. Nevertheless, returning to fans praising the star for the kind act, a fan wrote, “Incredible class from my boy Dame. But it’s not a good look that the winning team employees and staff members don’t get a bonus also.”

This fan certainly wasn’t impressed with the management’s decision not to give bonuses to the employees. Importantly, there isn’t any proof of the claim, so we are not certain whether the management doesn’t give a bonus after the victory. Another fan acknowledged Lillard’s selfless act and pointed out that he wasn’t greedy, writing, “Good guy Lillard he knows he already has enough.”
