Stephen Curry's bravery shines through—Is he the leader Team USA needs for the Paris Olympics?

Fans were thrilled that the USA’s men’s basketball team arrived in Paris. However, that did not make them forget the safety concerns regarding the River Seine and the Paris attacks that hindered the lives of the people who rely on the railway network in France. Amid the different risks that might cause problems for the Olympians in Paris, Team USA star Stephen Curry chose to concentrate on the positives.

Curry was at a press conference on Thursday and he didn’t look bothered about the situation. Instead, he gave the viewers something to laugh about during the bleak times, ahead of the opening ceremony.

Talking about Friday’s opening ceremony, which will have each country’s delegation floating on the Seine River, Curry put forward his point in a humorous way. “Do you know how to swim?” a reporter asked. “You’re like a flight attendant giving ‘the exits are over there in case you need it to go down,’” Steph said with a smile. “Nobody is thinking about that.”

“If you are on the boat, you can’t run anywhere,” the reporter continued. “We are all about positivity. We are going to get on that boat, enjoy it, and then get right off that boat,” Curry asserted that the mood was all positive in the USA men’s basketball team.

The Paris Olympics opening ceremony is a unique one. Instead of a parade, the athletes will be floating on a boat in the River Seine. The length of the flotilla is estimated to be 3.5-mile and it will take around 94 boats to have all the players on the Seine. Fans are worried if, for some reason, something tragic happens, the athletes might be in trouble. Also, it doesn’t help that the Paris attack has made a lot of news.

Just a few hours before the opening ceremony, the high-speed railway networks in France laid in shambles due to a “massive attack.” It stalled thousands of passengers from commuting to their destinations. The arson attacks damaged the facilities in the railway network, which is another reason why the fans are further worried about the safety of the players. That, however, did not seem to be a concern for Curry who bravely spoke his mind.

Curry was also called the biggest star by one of the journalists in the press conference and he responded with nothing but humility.

When Stephen Curry was called the biggest star at the Paris Games, the 36-year-old highlighted that every athlete in Paris was representing their country and nobody was any different than the other. The veteran also shed light on the fact that while the USA men’s basketball team wasn’t housed in the Olympic Village due to security reasons, it didn’t mean they were exclusive.

We aren’t staying in the Olympic Village and there is a reason for that but when we get around the other athletes, we are all representing our countries. It doesn’t make us any different to the next guy or girl to our right or left. It’s the same colors, the same outfits, the same letters across our chest. I look forward to that bonding experience,” Curry said.

One would hope that the security preparations at the Olympics will put to rest all dangers that have clouded every team participating in the quadrennial event so that the fans can happily look forward to Team USA clinching a gold.
