Sabrina Ionescu wants to make her battle with Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry as historic as possible. The New York Liberty star is not one to mess with. The NBA’s most awaited 3-point battle between the two shooters is set to get more attention after Ionescu has raised the bar now. Well, this possibly comes from Draymond Green calling out the league for unfair treatment towards his Golden State teammate.
The 3-point distance between the NBA and the WNBA has a minor difference. The men’s league has a distance of 23ft 9 inches from the 3-point line, but the WNBA has a distance of just 22ft 1.75 inches. Well, the same format was decided for the All-Star contest, but now Ionescu wants to level the playing field. The 2x All-Star decided that she wanted to shoot from the same distance as Curry would be shooting. She shared in an interview, “I’m using the men’s line”.
Ionescu further added, “That was kind of what I wanted to do from the beginning, just understanding where I normally shoot from is that range. That’s where I practice from and being able to have that opportunity to go out there and prove a lot of people wrong. I have been hearing a lot think that I can’t do it, women can’t shoot from that far. Just kind of checking that off the box.”

Green took his thoughts to his podcast. The 4-time champion shared, “I quite frankly myself think that Sabrina should also be shooting from the NBA line because those 3-feet do make a difference and you are essentially saying I am as good a shooter or better than Steph Curry in these contests.” Many found Green’s point to be valid. After all, this might decide the ultimate shooter for the time being.

Also Green is supporting his Warriors brother in the most-awaited battle, so it is fair that he made this point. Anyhow, this discussion is over now. Ionescu will shoot from the 23-foot line, so in case she wins the battle, she does not want Green or the netizens to bring up the difference in the distance. Challenges are nothing new for the 26-year-old. This is probably just another one.
