Well, by the end of this week, Giannis Antetokounmpo will be a married man. Making full use of his off-season break, he is currently occupied trying the knot with long-time partner Mariah Riddlesprigger privately in the “W” hotel in Costa Navarino, Greece. But that’s not the only thing on his mind right now. With a rare LeBron James and Stephen Curry memorabilia from the Paris Olympics soon to be available in the market, the Greek Freak is willing to drastically loosen his pockets, despite the reputation troubles he faced in the past.

Yes, Topps Now recently announced the release of a unique collectible card that will feature triple autographs from LeBron, Steph, and KD, the 3 Olympic heroes aka the Avengers of Team USA. Sure enough, many enthusiasts were interested in owning the one-of-a-kind card, including Giannis, who offered $150,000 as revealed by Topps!

However, the offer might have been on the lower end as founder of Sports Card Investor Geoff Wilson, who initially made a $100,000 bid, posted a video saying Giannis’ offer “isn’t going to get it done” and his new offer would be the best one by far.

What’s Geoff’s offer? Well, he has upped the amount to $250,000 with the condition that the card will be consigned to Fanatics Collect and be auctioned later this month at Sotheby’s Holy Grails auction. Despite the massive upgrade in the bid from the multi-millionaire, Giannis was not deterred from his goal of owning the card and made a bold claim on Geoff’s post, “Whatever he says I’ll double it🔥”

Surely, whatever the bidders pay for the card would be a bargain as it is the first ever autographed card from LeBron James with the brand and more importantly, it is the first-ever triple autographed card from arguably the three greatest hoopers of this era. And some even expect the card’s value to cross the million-dollar mark.

However, Giannis has no shortage of money with a net worth of over $100 million, but a past controversy could deter his pursuit.

When Giannis Antetokounmpo’s passion for collecting cards raised eyebrows

As it turns out, Giannis’ passion for collecting sports cards is nothing new. In an Instagram story he shared 4 years ago, he showed off his insane card collection, which surprisingly was stacked with his own autographed cards from different points of his career. While most fans marveled at the collection, some found it a bit fishy. Scratching their heads, netizens began wondering if Antetokounmpo was keeping the cards that companies sent him for autographs instead of returning them for further sale.

This sparked a massive debate among the community, as some fans claimed those were just backup test cards that athletes keep with themselves, while many accused the Greek Freak of being unethical!

However, the origin of Giannis Antetokounmpo’s card collection was never truly revealed by the player. But he sure is willing to do it the right way this time, as he is ready to spend thousands of dollars on a piece of legendary memorabilia that might never be replicated again. Do you think the Greek Freak will be able to fulfill his goal and make his wedding weekend even more special?
