Are the Lakers prioritizing family ties over championship ambitions with Bronny James' inclusion?

Thirteen minutes is the difference between the two players with the lowest playing time so far this season in the Lakers colors. Bronny James is in the second spot among the two mentioned above with only 3 minutes under his belt. This could increase tonight when the Cavs welcome the LA side at Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse. While Ohio is gearing up to welcome one of their own, some locker room trouble could be brewing due to Bronny. That’s what LeBron‘s former teammate, Danny Green believes.

During the latest episode of the ‘Run It Back on FanDuel TV’ show, the 3-time NBA champion talked about the special occasion. Being a former Cavalier, Green knows the sentimental value of the game tonight. But he also warned that Bronny James spending time on the court could upset a few, especially his teammate, Cam Reddish. “I think he could be a pro,” Green said about Bronny. “I don’t know if he is pro ready yet. How would I feel if those other guys in that roster? I don’t know if I’d be too happy about it.”

“Like Cam Reddish, he was a guy that was playing a good amount early in the season last year. Obviously, different coaching, different staff this year. But I think he’s very talented. So, yeah, there’s certain guys that I (think) probably wouldn’t be too happy,” Green said. Being one of the best role players of his generation, Danny Green certainly knows a thing or two about locker room dynamics. Being unhappy with Bronny means drawing the ire of LeBron James and that can even lead to a ticket straight out of LA.

Cam Reddish is yet to play a minute this season due to being ruled out in the first two games stating personal reasons. Bronny James’ addition to the Lakers roster caused a lot of controversy, as we know. But if the rumors are to be true, James Jr. will be heading to the G League after the series of road games ending on November 6. He will be shuttling between the South Bay Lakers and JJ Redick‘s team. But is his place in a game day squad unwarranted? A former NBA star had already voiced his displeasure over the rookie’s drafting and accused the LA side of being unserious.

Playing for the Lakers means only three things—win, win and win at any cost. The Celtics’ championship success has already raised the bar for the Lakers and left them in the chasing pack. In this situation, LeBron needed a championship-caliber player which the franchise failed to acquire in the summer. But Bron got his wish through his son and one can say, it was a move to keep him happy. And that’s where the problem lies, according to DeMarcus Cousins.

“I don’t really think the Lakers are serious anymore,” Cousins said during his recent appearance on Run It Back. “I love everything that (LeBron) stands for … as far as the Lakers actually competing, I don’t know. I take that as a sign that they aren’t really serious.”

He even praised the Lakers for picking up Dalton Knecht, who he believes can have an instant impact. But a lot of problems from last season regarding squad building were left unaddressed, Boogie stressed on the show. So far, JJ Redick has got the Lakers off to a flying start with a 3-1 record. The game against the undefeated Eastern Conference team is going to be a big test. After LeBron’s disappointing night against the Suns, a reaction is expected, but the moment with Bronny is still the biggest talking point surrounding the game. So are the Lakers only running behind clicks and pics or are they ready for a serious challenge ahead? The answer is coming up in just a few hours.
