Amid NBA Hiatus, Austin Reaves’ Girlfriend Reveals Couple’s Beloved Pastime Away from Lakers’ Offseason Drama

Los Angeles Lakers star Austin Reaves is currently in the midst of enjoying his off-season after getting eliminated from the ongoing tournament a couple of weeks ago. From the search for a new head coach taking its own twists and turns to lead scorer LeBron James’ future remaining uncertain, the franchise is currently in the midst of dealing with different episodes of drama. However, the 26-year-old, away from all of this, is looking to fruitfully spend the ample amount of time available at his disposal. From what fans recently got a glimpse of, it seems that Reaves is making use of his open schedule to spend some quality time with his longtime girlfriend, Jenna Barber.

Barber, recently took to her official Instagram account to share a story featuring the Lakers star enjoying a round of golf, using a custom-built arcade game. Though the place where the couple was present was dimly-lit, all that the viewers had to do was look at the screen on the left-hand side to figure out who was taking the shot. The 23-year-old captioned the video as “forever golf dates”, accompanied by a couple of emojis.

Similar to many members of the NBA fraternity like Stephen Curry and Michael Jordan, Austin Reaves enjoys the occasional round of golf. He recently made headlines after trying his hand out in the qualifying round of the Korn Ferry Tour. While he failed to make the final cut, the NBA player still went 6-over 76 during his round at Willow Creek. The love for golf is a trait shared by both Austin Reaves and Jenna Barber. The couple were seen attending the U.S. Open back in June 2023, a moment that Barber highlighted on Facebook with the caption “u can always catch us on a golf course.” The shared interest seems to be significant in the relationship.

When rumors were spreading around that the Lakers star was caught having a drink in a bar with Taylor Swift, Reaves revealed that his girlfriend was unfazed. Instead of being worried, she reportedly replied back saying, “If it were at a golf course, I would’ve been a little more worried”.

While he continues to dominate on the basketball court, Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry has shown himself to be an excellent shot on the green as well. During the American Century Championship last year, the then 35-year-old created history by making a jaw dropping 152-yard hole-in-one shot. Later on, he would claim the championship title himself after making an 18-foot putt that secured the final win. Despite his achievements, however, the Lakers’ shooting guard does not choose to put the veteran player above himself.

During an interview on the Zach Lowe Podcast, the host proceeded to ask Austin Reaves about his opinion on who is the best golfer among NBA players. The then 25-year-old didn’t have to think for long before replying back “Me”. Even as Lowe highlighted that other people would instantly choose Stephen Curry, the Lakers star continued holding on to his belief.

“Hey, I’m down to play golf whenever, wherever against anybody,” said Reaves. “I love golf so much, I’d go play Tiger. Obviously, I don’t have any expectation of winning that one . . . but I would love to play against Steph.”

Well, Austin Reaves better be careful what he wishes for. If Stephen Curry is competitive on the basketball court, then the same rules apply to the golf ground as well.
