The NBA witnessed a string of controversies related to Ja Morant early this year. In two nights of extravagant partying in Denver, the Memphis Grizzlies star made several questionable choices in a strip club in Colorado. Needless to say, that landed him in a heap of trouble. However, after his major controversy in a strip club, DeMar DeRozan’s $4.1B worth of franchise brought the action to their arena.
DeMar DeRozan has been a celebrated player in the NBA for years. Over his 14-year career in the league, the 6-time All-Star has seen a lot of unusual events take place. However, he may have never seen something as bizarre as what ensued during a game against the Los Angeles Lakers.

Ja Morant made headlines early this year for all the wrong reasons. The 2-time All-Star’s extravagant party at a Colorado strip club cost him plenty. From tipping a whopping $50K to flashing a gun on Instagram, Morant made one questionable choice after the other. However, the Chicago Bulls let their fans bring this action to the United Center early this year.
The Bulls took on the Los Angeles Lakers in an intense matchup at the United Center. This regular season game witnessed two All-Stars in DeMar DeRozan and LeBron James take on each other. However, an unusual activity in the VIP boxes caught everyone’s attention.
Some fans brought strippers to the United Center suites who performed for them, mid-game. The strippers were seen dancing provocatively while the fans threw dollar bills at them. It is, however, important to note that the NBA did not endorse these actions. This incident caught the attention of several fans, including former LeBron James-teammate, Iman Shumpert.
Shumpert discussed this incident recently, with the Bulls forward, DeMar DeRozan. Interestingly, DeRozan expressed his disbelief regarding this fiasco too.

DeMar DeRozan seemed absorbed in his matchup against the Lakers. He put up 22 points and dished out 5 assists in the Bulls’ unfortunate loss to the Lakers. However, he was too locked to witness what was going on in the VIP boxes. Discussing the infamous incident with Shumpert on his podcast, DeRozan too, claimed he could not believe what took place.
“Man, we didn’t see it till afterward. That s**t was hilarious“, claimed the 6-time All-Star. In response, Shumpert said, “Oh, this city is lit. They can’t stop ’em. DeMar and them before they packing somebody out, man. They just went up there and then you look up in the box and they just got the dancers dancin’. The fans is loving it…“.
Shumpert further added, “All I’m thinking is man, I wonder which player looked up like ‘hey G they stripping’ like…what’s going on”. DeRozan replied “We didn’t see it till afterwards bro. Yeah, we looked at it and…we was trippin’“.

DeMar DeRozan may have been caught off-guard but the Bulls definitely made a lot of heads turn that day. The $4.1B franchise’s decision to let the fans bring strippers to the game has been questioned by several authorities. Given the NBA’s sour experience with the kind including the Ja Morant incident, they hope to eradicate such actions in the future.
