Despite their children excelling in every regard, especially Stephen Curry, parents Dell and Sonya Curry have been in turmoil in the last few years. The divorce between the two also brought a lot of sadness to the family. With both parents going their separate ways, things have become complicated. With guilt filling up, the journey for both hasn’t been easy. To record her tenuous journey, Sonya Curry wrote a book called Fierce Love: A Memoir of Family, Faith, and Purpose.
This book captures many moments and was written as the divorce took place. To discuss her side of the story, Sonya confessed last year about her troubled marriage.

Last year, the former college volleyball star sat down with TV personality Carlette Christmas and discussed her book. Midway into the conversation, Christmas pointed out a chapter where she felt Curry hinted at meeting Jesus Christ. She asked her what led her to the moment.
Curry replied, “That was a pivotal time of my life. I was making real questionable decisions. I was partying, there was times I was partying seven days a week. That was a goal. Like oh I want to see if I can go out every night of the week. Now, I’m a grown woman, running a school, three kids. Like why I am doing that? Most of the time for me I like to have fun. I like to laugh. I’m not like a partyer, but it’s the fun and being with people and laughing more so”.
She continued, “I was doing all that, and it was like questionable decisions, you know with other men. You know just flirting, and stuff like that. And you get to a point you’re like okay, this is real. You’re playing with fire and there’s gonna be a moment where you get in a situation. So, I mean you can’t get out of like. So it was that. It was other things from my marriage. It was trying to run the school, I was burning the candle at both ends and I was just a mess. Just to be quite honest with you, I was just a mess”.
Amidst these developments, she finally found relief.

Sonya Curry finds Christ
She admitted to “chasing the world”. And then said, that one night, she went to church and the priest asked her to “try Jesus” if she was “tired of the same old things”. That experience brought her focus on raising her children and she feels closer to God since then. Acknowledging that this experience was “beautiful”, she also registered that she also felt “lonely”.
She also revealed that there was a “lot of lies going on” and her relationship with Dell reached a breaking point due to the pressure. At any rate, her religious devotion helped her escape a cycle of pressure.
