The league will be implementing new rules this upcoming NBA season. Commissioner Adam Silver announced the strictness the league will be coming down with for load management. Many teams tend to rest out their star players which in turn ends up hurting fans who save up money to come see them play. And the league is trying to crack down on just that for the sake of the fans.
Now this may be a win for the fans but no so much for players and teams. And given the situation Damian Lillard is in this new $1 million rule may end up putting the Portland Trail Blazers in a tough spot.

The league just doubled down on the load management teams use in order to rest players during the season. Given that the regular season is 82 games long, it may be understandable from one perspective.
However, from the perspective of a fan who saved his hard-earned money to come to see his favorite player on the court, that tends to be heartbreaking. And NBA commissioner Adam Silver has finally come up with a solution.

While the majority of the teams will have to work through this, the new rule may end up causing problems for the Trail Blazers. Given the trade request by Damian Lillard months ago, the Blazers have yet to make a move.
In one of the recent episodes of NBA Today, analyst Brian Windhorst talked about the predicament the Blazers will be in due to this rule. He said, ?So, we?ve got Dame Lillard here who has asked for a trade.?
?There?s no trade. We?re less than two weeks from the start of training camp. Obviously, there?d be some concern about playing him in other situations and other times.??

Will this new rule help with the Damian Lillard trade?
Brian Windhorst went on to explain further that even if Damian Lillard does not want to, he will have to play for the Blazers till a trade is finalized. He also went on to add, ?Now according to these new rules, Damian Lillard has got be there and got to be playing for the Trail Blazers.?

Now, according to the new rules, the first fine would be for $100,000. The second violation would be for $250,000. After that, a hefty $1 million would be added to their previous fine for the third violation, and so on.
So, if Lillard does not suit up for the Blazers, it may just end up costing them big money right out of the start of the gate for the new season. So, let?s see if this motivates the Blazers to work harder to trade Lillard.
