A couple of weeks ago, the Mavericks’ momentum came to a halt as their star players, Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving, were both added to the injury list. While it seemed like the franchise might be sinking at that time, things look much better now. With Kyrie back with the squad, he’s ready to help lift the team out of the deep waters, bringing some much-needed good news to the fans.

“I don’t have a lapse in a way where I’m out and I have to get surgery…I feel a lot better,” Kyrie told the media after the Mavericks’ 106-98 win against the Thunder. He missed five games in between because of his lower back injury. Now that he’s back, the franchise is taking things slow with Kyrie to avoid any further risk. With Doncic injured, they’ll need Kyrie’s leadership during this crucial time. The veteran further added, “Taking my time and just remaining patient…But I’m not too worried, but I know the maintenance that it takes to make sure that I’m good and I have to continue that.” That’s certainly a sigh of relief for the Mavericks fans.

Apart from the important victory, there was something special about last night. Mike Curtis reported that Kyrie stayed hours after the game for a meet and greet session with fans on Native American Heritage Night. “It’s my responsibility as a young chief in training to always advocate for that side of my bloodline & family,” Kyrie said. As soon as the clip spread rapidly, fans gathered to express their appreciation for him.

“He did not deserve what happened to him,” read one of the comments, referring to the anti-Semitic controversy Kyrie unfortunately became involved in. The incident dates back to 2022 when Kyrie Irving promoted a documentary, Hebrews to Negroes: Wake Up Black America, on his social media, which contained anti-Semitic conspiracy theories and false claims about Jewish people. This sparked anger among fans, many of whom criticized Irving for sharing the link. They felt he was endorsing harmful stereotypes, despite his claim that he did not have that mindset. He apologized for his actions, but by then, the damage was already done. The media had labeled him guilty, Kyrie was suspended by the Brooklyn Nets, and Nike cut ties with him. Though years have passed, his public image has yet to fully recover. So, the fan said, after watching the new viral post, that Kyrie didn’t deserve so much hatred.

Someone stated, “Kyrie out here changing lives..one of the all time greats as well as all time great people… keep it up lil bruh.” There’s no doubt that Kyrie is one of the most impactful players in the league. Besides a resume full of achievements to flaunt, the 8-time All-Star also has the ability to mesmerize people with his phenomenal skills on the court.
