Did Sam Mitchell go too far, or was Chris Miles asking for it with his comments?

On a least-expected day, the NBA world had one of the most awkward moments on live TV. Thanks to Sam Mitchell, a former player, who picked the analyst role on NBA TV. The 61-year-old along with his co-host Chris Miles had a live verbal volley amid Stephen Curry‘s Olympics gold medal honor at Chase Center. Importantly, Mitchell stepped out of line and threatened to reveal Miles’ address on air. And, now, the fans fear that the 13-year experienced former NBA might lose his job.

The Warriors played their first home pre-season game on Friday. On that occasion, the management decided to honor the Baby-faced Assassin for the Paris gold medal. Draymond Green took the responsibility and presented the medal to the superstar amid the rousing crowd. Moreover, Steve Kerr, who coached Team USA, stood beside the duo.

Speaking of the moment, Sam Mitchell said, “I guess it just tells you [in] international [play] how they value coaches – not at all.” In response, Miles poked fun, saying, “I’m surprised coaches get a paycheck for this show. Maybe you should do this pro bono, my friend.” And it certainly hit Mitchell’s wrong nerve. And, boom, the former player went off, accusing his co-host of bragging and threatening to reveal his house address.

On the other end, Miles looked stunned and Mitchell kept going, “Did you rent your beach house out down in Florida during the Hurricane?… How about your townhouse in Buckhead… You gotta stop messing with me on national TV… Do I need to give out the address? Because you’re not at home right now.” Helpless Miles, awkwardly segued into the game, amid Mitchell’s flurry of words. While it was an awkward moment for the duo, fans viewing it indeed had fun, as they flooded the social media with reactions.

Awkward TV moment leaves fans divided amid Stephen Curry’s honor

While Steph’s Olympic honor was the topic of discussion, the NBA TV hosts diverted the attention to themselves. And the fans played their part. Many fans feared that Sam Mitchell would lose his job after the show. A fan wrote, “NAH THIS MAN IS GETTING FIRED IMMEDIATELY LMAOOO.” There are multiple similar instances where the network had taken action against their employees over their questionable conduct. Notably, ESPN fired Paul Pierce after he appeared in IG Live with strippers.

Another fan pointed out that both hosts will be in trouble for the act, as they wrote, “They both about to see HR in a bit.” Well, Sam Mitchell wouldn’t rant alone, Miles did instigate him. A fan reacting to the verbal battle wrote, “Chris started it… Sam went nuclear don’t play with fire.” Importantly, some fans even went on to take Mitchell’s side. A fan wrote, “W coach. 100% justified after young dude was tryna clown him. you reap what you sow.”
