At this point, it’s not a ‘Woj bomb’ anymore. It’s a ‘Shams’ drop’. Maybe we’ll find a better name later, as the league continues to reshape its landscape every passing day. We all know what happened last night. Just as we were coming to terms with the Luka-AD trade, Shams Charania broke the much-awaited trade involving De’Aaron Fox and Zach LaVine. Once again, it’s a three-team deal and the young guard got what he asked for, a spot next to Victor Wembanyama.

Honestly, Fox’s trade to the Spurs wasn’t a surprise, as a few days ago several reports suggested that Texas was the star’s “preferred” destination. However, what’s more surprising about the trade was the involvement of LaVine. Most importantly, the nature of his involvement.

From one angle, it’s a wholesome trade because DeMar DeRozan and Zach Attack reunited months after they were separated in Chicago. However, at the same time, it’s interesting to witness how the Bulls willfully engaged in a ‘losing’ trade, as some fans perceived. After giving away a star guard and multiple picks, the Bulls only received Zach Collins, Tre Jones, and Kevin Huerter and a first-round pick.

Describing the trade, a fan wrote, So the bulls are the only team that got nothing? And they literally got nothing.” While some fans felt it raised doubts about the Bulls’ questionable choice, we bring you the driving reason behind the trade.

ESPN’s Bobby Marks pointed out that the Spurs have cap space this offseason. This would enable De’Aaron Fox to renegotiate his salary from $36.1 to $47.4 million and also a four-year extension worth $229 million. On the other hand, Zach LaVine, who has two more seasons left in his 5-year $215 million contract, will receive a $9.5 million trade bonus. Let’s look at how fans have perceived this trade.

Zach LaVine-De’Aaron Fox trade leaves fans in disbelief

What’s your perspective on:

Did the Bulls just make the worst trade of the decade, or is there a hidden strategy?

Have an interesting take?

First of all, De’Aaron Fox’s trade was anticipated as a blockbuster this season. It surely still is one. But, at the same time, had the Lakers not traded Luka Doncic last night, this would have been a different story. Most importantly, most fans compared the Fox trade with last night’s blockbuster. It certainly triggered adverse reactions. A fan asked, Fox went for more picks than Luka lol”

Last night, the Mavs gave up on their 25-year-old generational talent along with Maxi Kleber and Markieff Morris for Anthony Davis, Max Christie, and a first-round pick. Meanwhile, the Sac Town received Zach LaVine, and Sidy Cissoko, three first-round picks, and three second-round picks for De’Aaron Fox. Comparatively, the Kings surely have hit the jackpot for trading out a onetime All-Star who has reached playoff only once in his career. In short, in the words of a fan, Sacramento got a better package for Fox than the Mavs did for Luka.”

Undoubtedly, fans raised genuine concerns that no one had answers for. Another fan wrote, I don’t even understand this trade man who won?” I am not sure who won the trade but I sure know who lost the trade. The Bulls just gave up on two All-Star players in a few months’ gap. At the same time, both DeRozan and LaVine couldn’t move a needle with their talent in the legendary franchise. Maybe it would allow the Bulls to rebuild from scratch.

On the other hand, a fan declared the winner of the trade. They wrote,The Spurs won this trade. They kept Castle, Sochan, Keldon Johnson, Vassell, Branham, and Blake Wesle” Despite Wemby’s flurry, the Spurs couldn’t do much last season with their inexperienced roster. This season, with just the inclusion of Chris Paul and Scottie Barnes, the Spurs have shown promising signs. Along with that, now they have another All-Star guard on their team without losing their young reserves. Well, that’s a great trade. What do you think? Let us know in the comments.
