After losing 4-2 at the hands of a young Pacers squad and exiting the playoffs in the first round, the Milwaukee Bucks are already facing a ton of criticism and humiliation from the NBA World. But Patrick Beverley’s actions after tonight’s game might have taken the embarrassment one step further.
Like all players do, Pat Bev sat down for a postgame interview to reflect on the season he had with the Bucks and the series against the Pacers. However, midway during the interview, Beverley posed an unusual question for veteran ESPN producer Malinda Adams, who was standing right next to him, ready to pick his mind. “You subscribed to my pod?” Beverley asked Malinda, referring his nearly two-year young The Pat Bev Podcast. And when the producer revealed that she wasn’t, Beverley delivered another shocking statement, “You can’t interview me then.”

Then, moments later, Beverley pushed away Malinda’s mic from his face, asking her to step away from the circle just because she was not subscribed to his podcast. Like a true professional, Malinda obliged to Beverley’s request and walked away while the Bucks star continued his interview. Maybe, Beverley was mad after the humiliating beatdown the Pacers gave them, or he was just trying to be funny which did not reflect in his tone. Whatever the reason, Beverley’s unusual behaviour seemed a bit out of line as subscribing to someone’s podcast does not come under the eligibility criteria to interview them.
NBA Media community unites to slam Patrick Beverley
Although while telling Malinda that she cannot interview him, Beverley referred to her as “Ma’am” and told her, “No Disrespect” the NBA media community took offense to his behaviour and took to social media to point it out.
Veteran NBA Insider Brian Windhorst came to the aid of the ESPN producer telling the world how respected she is in the media world and claimed Beverley might have to make some apologies after tonight.
Veteran producer Malinda Adams happens to be one of the most respected and professional people we have at ESPN. Bev, you’re going to have to make a couple apologies for stuff tonight. https://t.co/KdQ0VuGoyg

NBA beat writer Tomer Azarly deemed Beverley’s behaviour “inexcusable” and questioned what subscribing to his podcast had to do with the situation.
This is inexcusable behavior. Tf does subscribing to his pod have anything to do with this? https://t.co/92NpRJaJwk

Even ESPN Australia reporter Steve Smith chimed in calling the incident “ridiculous.”
You gotta be kidding me. This is ridiculous. https://t.co/vvSDcPA1lM

Award winning columnist Monte Poole said what Beverley did tonight was way out of line.
Patrick is waaaaaay out of line. And he's gonna hear about it. There is a word for this type of behavior. https://t.co/ybVZthdoyr

Senior ESPN Writer Marc J. Spears commended Malinda for displaying true professionalism despite Beverley’s disrespectful act. Moreover, he also pointed out that Pat Bev made a similar gesture in the Bubble toward NBPA Executive Director Michele Roberts.
First the disrespect to Michele Roberts in the NBA Bubble in front of other NBA players and now this… He is who he is. Respect to stellar veteran producer Malinda Adams for her professionalism through that silliness. https://t.co/MLkHm2wfTQ

During a discussion to decide whether or not to resume the season in the pandemic, Pat Bev constantly interrupted Roberts while she tried to make her point. And when she politely asked Bev to let her finish her point, he reportedly denied saying, “No, I pay your salary.” Even Beverley’s NBA peers couldn’t stand the disrespect and stood up to support Roberts.
Since this is not the first time Patrick Beverley has disrespected an individual, it is great to see the NBA media community uniting to let him know of his mistake. Hopefully, Beverley will realize what he did was wrong and issue an apology to Malinda Adams. What are your thoughts on what Beverley said to the veteran ESPN producer?
