After going to arbitration and waiting, Alex Rodriguez and Marc Lore can finally celebrate. Shams Charania has broken the news, so you know it can’t be false. After a double-overtime victory, the Minnesota Timberwolves will see an inevitable ownership change and Glen Taylor agreed to not challenge the initial decision and go ahead with the transfer.

According to Charania, the league will start the transfer process immediately putting an end to the saga that started over a year ago. Now you might think Taylor refused to appeal it because of revised terms. Since the initial $1.5 billion offer, the Timberwolves’ value has almost tripled thanks to the NBA’s media rights deal and their playoff success.

However, prepare yourself for another shock. As the revered insider noted, “Glen Taylor has agreed on Marc Lore-Alex Rodriguez acquiring 100% ownership of the Minnesota Timberwolves and Lynx at the same $1.5 billion tag the sides reached in 2021, sources said,”.

Taylor will lose billions in this deal. However, as per fairness, the initial amount agreed in 2021 will continue to stand. It’s still unclear how long it will take for the ownership transfer to go through. But Adam Silver projects there won’t be any hiccups in the process and it should be a smooth transfer.

So finally, the dream Alex Rodriguez and Lore had can be fulfilled. The MLB legend has already shared his insights as an owner. Having fallen in love with the city, he wants to work for the community and bring great things to Minnesota. That probably starts with making Anthony Edwards untouchable as he is the energy center for the franchise.

Moreover, since their stature as a top team in the NBA, business has never been better for the Wolves. However, even if everything is great, some players’ futures could be uncertain.

What’s your perspective on:

Will A-Rod's ownership bring the Timberwolves their long-awaited championship glory, or is it just a dream?

Is Julius Randle’s future in Minnesota uncertain?

When the ownership battle was still alive, early reports suggested Alex Rodriguez and Lore wanted to operate under the luxury tax. That hasn’t been possible this season. The Wolves are bound to pay $93 million in tax, the second most for any NBA team. However, with Rodriguez now in power, he could very well revert to his plans.

It was only a few days ago that Windhorst was wonderingAre they gonna, you know, keep Naz Reid? Are they gonna keep Julius Randle, and you know how much money can they spend and who’s going to be the one spending,”.

With the news official, that becomes a pressing issue within the organization. And it’s not just these two players. Nickeil Alexander-Walker is also due for an extension and his impressive season warrants a healthy raise. The question is are the Wolves willing to break the bank for consecutive seasons?

If A-Rod was carrying his earlier mindset, a major roster reboot would take place. However, his aim is to bring championships to the city of Minnesota. And according to Jon Krawczynski of The Athletic, the Yankees legend has eased on his policy to be under the luxury tax bracket. “All of the parties involved want the team to operate as a luxury-tax payer while a championship window is open, team sources said,” he mentioned in his report prior to the beginning of the season.

The Timberwolves did initially struggle to fit into the new dynamic after Karl-Anthony Towns’ exit. But they have managed to recover splendidly currently holding the seventh seed in the West. Primed for playoff action once again, the team doesn’t need many changes. And it for sure requires the current star power to remain intact.

Hence, maybe Alex Rodriguez and Lore won’t mind spending additional cash to keep the band together. It does still depend though on how they end the season.
