In the fight for survival, the Minnesota Timberwolves prevailed on the road against the 3-0 up Dallas Mavericks. Everything was on the line during Game 4. After some horrid fourth quarters in the previous encounters, tonight the Wolves were impeccable. Karl-Anthony Towns and Anthony Edwards, the two kingpins outshined Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving for the first time in the series. They combined for 53 points in the pivotal matchup, including taking the helm during the clutch. Likewise, part owner Alex Rodriguez was over the moon.

The minority owner of the Wolves could be credited for the teams’ instant turnaround since his arrival. Present at the American Airlines Center, there wasn’t a moment when A-Rod wasn’t out of his seat. Right next to the basket dressed in a crisp suit, the MLB legend was on cloud nine once the final buzzer sounded.

The Wolves players had pulled off a herculean task, winning on the road to keep their dreamy playoff run alive. Of course, Rodriguez, who has grown close to the players and team had to give them a pat on the back. Posting stories on his Instagram, the 48-year-old was seen waiting at the end of the tunnel and congratulating the incoming players.

It included Mike Conley, who dissected the Mavs defense and made vital plays for the Wolves. Next came Anthony Edwards, the rising phenom who hit the dagger mid-range to seal the win. “That’s what I am talking about” screamed a delighted Rodriguez who hugged Towns passionately after his incredible 24 points performance. Jaden McDaniels too received an earful of love for his defensive efforts.

While one win has been secured, the job is far from done. They have only just begun the climb. The Wolves still have to win three straight games, including another win at the American Airlines Center. Doncic and Irving aren’t going to falter the way they did today for the remainder of the series.

It’s going to be a clash of ambitions. The Mavericks will look to close out the series while the Wolves are undeterred from their battle spirits. Whose ambitions are stronger is the real question. Remember, no team in NBA history has yet to overturn a 0-3 deficit. Additionally, the Wolves lost their only conference finals in 2004 when they ran into the Shaq-Kobe Bryant Lakers. Can Minnesota still dream?

Anthony Edward and Karl-Anthony Towns have reignited Mike Conley’s youth

After Game 4, the Wolves were all in a jolly mood. Edwards and KAT were back to joking about his foul troubling dilemma. The 22-year-old even promised NFL’s Micah Parsons a pair of shoes when they return for Game 6, once again displaying his extreme confidence in himself and his teammates to extend the series back to Dallas.

However, in the midst of it all was a slightly emotional Mike Conley. A 17-year veteran was asked the impact young players like Edwards and KAT have had on his career. The starting point guard said they are the reason he is back to having fun in the game of basketball. “They’re keeping me young, I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else” he told the reporters at the post-game press conference.
