A shocker at TD Garden! As the Celtics prepared to host the Sixers for tonight’s Christmas Day encounter, most fans expected it to be an easy day at work for Jayson Tatum and Co. After all, the Sixers are having an abysmal season and are ranked eleventh in the East. But Joel Embiid’s squad took everyone by surprise as they upset the reigning champions, that too in their own building. However, veteran star Al Horford’s sister, Anna, was quick to undermine the Sixers’ victory with a savage jab.
Taking a dig at Daryl Morey’s franchise, Anna tweeted, “Beating us is the closest they’re getting to an NBA championship. Go Cs.”

41 years! That’s how long it has been since the Sixers last won the championship. They haven’t even come close to repeating that feat since the Allen Iverson era. Moreover, Anna’s jab truly hits home because, under Embiid’s leadership, his team has never made it out of the second round of the playoffs. With the way their season is progressing so far, Horford’s sister might be correct about the Sixers not coming close to winning a title this year as well.
Yes, tonight was one of the rare occasions when the Sixers’ Big Three played together for the entire length of a game. The trio combined for 72 points to lead their team to victory. Unfortunately, that does not happen on most nights, mainly because Embiid has hardly been available this season, first due to his lingering knee issues, and then because of the recent sinus fracture. He also served a three-game suspension for shoving veteran columnist Marcus Hayes during an altercation. In the last game, Embiid even got ejected for getting into a heated argument with the official over a foul call.

Well, Anna used Embiid’s ongoing struggles to her advantage and roasted the Sixers for their current situation. But why did she do it?
Al Horford’s poor treatment in Philly could have led to bad blood between Anna and the Sixers
This is Al’s seventh season playing for the Celtics. But in between those seasons, there was one year when he played for the Sixers back in 2019-20. Sure enough, he was expected to serve as a compliment piece to Embiid, who was constantly dealing with injury concerns. Unfortunately, Al never fit the puzzle correctly and had one of his career’s worst seasons playing in Philly, averaging only 11.9 points.

Moreover, the struggles in Philly made Al and his family even more nostalgic of his time in Boston. His sister Maira even said in an interview, “We stayed Celtics fans when he was in Philly and when he was in OKC. We couldn’t let go.” Obviously, this did not sit well with Sixers fans, and Al along with his family faced a lot of heat because of it as Anna remarked, “Philly fans hated us there. They hated us for it.” Meanwhile, Al’s brother Josh clearly stated, “We continued to root for Boston, because they’re not d——–”
Maybe that’s why there is still bad blood between Al’s family and the Sixers, because the veteran star was not treated well during or even after his time in Philly. And that might be the reason Anna roasted the Sixers despite their victory in Boston.
