The world witnessed in disbelief as Kyle Kuzma walked into Capital One Arena wearing a comically oversized pink sweater, which was nearly twice as big as his 6’9 frame. This happened three years ago. Well, apart from being an NBA Champion, Kuz has also turned into somewhat of a fashion icon because of his unique tunnel fits. Unfortunately, he is putting an end to his massively popular routine starting this season. And no one understands this decision better than A’ja Wilson.
Yes, in a recent interview with Vogue, Kuzma revealed that he has retired his tunnel fits. “I don’t want to be a part of that type of community where you have to put on a fit.” The Wizards star remarked. His decision was evident in the season opener against the Celtics when Kuz walked into the arena wearing a basic all-grey sweatsuit. And he plans to maintain that look throughout the season.

Well, his decision certainly resonated with A’ja as she shared the post on her Instagram story and wrote, “It be like that sometimes” with a shrug emoji. Just like Kuz, the WNBA star’s pre-game tunnel fits have also become popular over the years. However, earlier this year, she too resorted to wearing just a plain white tee and black shorts for several of her games. Revealing the reason behind her choice, Wilson said, “I have to want to put on clothes. Right now, where I am, I don’t feel like I deserve to put on clothes. … Right now, my main focus is just getting wins.”
And win she did. Finishing the season with her career’s best numbers in nearly all departments, the Aces star took home her third MVP trophy. Maybe, some of it had to do with her giving up the tunnel fits and focusing strictly on her game. Could Kuzma be aiming for a similar outcome?
Will Kyle Kuzma ever unretire his Tunnel Fits after calling it ‘Ludicrous’

As much as we will miss it, Kuzma is no longer going to go all out on his outfits, “I’m really taking a backseat to all of that.” And he revealed that his routine had a lot to do with him just being young and experimental, “I can speak from experience that when you’re a younger player, you don’t want to wear the same thing twice. A lot of times we get played into thinking, oh, we gotta switch it up, we gotta buy something new.”
However, he is a veteran in this league now playing in his eighth season. And he has outgrown that phase of his life as he looks back on it with a different approach, “Now we’re just buying clothes to impress people or to stand out. It’s ludicrous.” So, it is unlikely that he will unretire his tunnel fits anytime soon. But considering his love for clothes and passion, a day could come when he decides to bring it all back. A’ja did the same earlier this month when she was spotted wearing Sergio Hudson and Smash shoes during the playoffs, looking fabulous as ever. So, never say never.
