The 2024 Paris Olympics opening ceremony is underway and it’s already turning out to be a cracker of an event. With teams on the boats cruising through the Seine River, the scenic ceremony left an impression for a lifetime. And do you know who else stole the show? It was Team USA’s very own A’ja Wilson. But she got an assist from the Dubs maestro Steph Curry.

As Team USA sailed out on the river with star-spangled flags all around, A’ja Wilson became the focal point of attention with her unique look. Despite donning a tailor-made Ralph Lauren suit, the WNBA star’s eyewear became a fashion statement for the world to see. Fans were quick to notice the extravagant color on her face, thanks to the goggles framed as the Olympics logo with five rings.

Wilson took the opportunity to post it on her X account for the fans to have a closer look. She captioned the picture, “thx @StephenCurry30 for the shades.” A’ja’s cool shades went viral in a matter of minutes after it was spotted on the screen. The Aces C was in all blue with Team USA’s custom blue suit and sky blue colored jeans. The suit had a red and white striped collar, sleeve, and pocket linings. A fan wrote, “Gotta make your outfit stylish,” after witnessing the fashion statement from the WNBA champ.

Even the USC women’s basketball team HC and former Team USA flag bearer, Dawn Staley was mesmerized by the view. She wrote on X, “@_ajawilson22 on that A’ONE ish! Love you A! Keep sitting on top of the world!!” A’ja and Staley have a well-documented history between them. The 27-year-old won her only NCAA championship in 2017 under Staley and since then, she has maintained a bond with her former coach that was again on show today.

“Steph Curry is doing the work of the people. This is tremendous A’ja Wilson content,” a fan wrote in response to the viral picture of Wilson. This is what the Olympics is all about. Fans get to see their favorite stars in the same group moving toward a common goal. For A’ja, the target is to bring the eighth straight Olympic Gold for the USABWMNT, while Curry is focused on the fifth for the men’s side. And before the action tips off, this was a cool moment between the two that the fans will endear for a long time.

Another fan added, “My goat Steph curry (Goat emoji), a gift giver.” Of course, how can we forget the orchestrator behind the whole thing that is taking the internet by storm? Keeping up his habit of throwing dimes for his teammates, Curry did a favor to her women’s team counterpart as well. This will be the first Olympics for the Dubs’ star and he is already enjoying himself which can only boost Team USA’s chances at gold. 

Speaking of gold, A’ja Wilson also has the same in mind. When asked about her experience with her teammates and her expectations for Team USA at the opening ceremony, the center said, “Legendary, I mean it really is the women that have laid that foundation down for us since ’96 and before till now, truly amazing to be a part of and I love my teammates. We go from competing against each other (like) rivals and now setting that aside and becoming teammates, cause we want a shot at the gold. So, it’s gonna be fun.”

A’ja Wilson and Co. will start their Paris Olympics campaign on July 30 against Japan followed by the games against Belgium and Germany on August 2 and 4 respectively. The talented center is focused only on getting the gold and if she remained as laser-focused as she was today, seeing through the lenses of her cool new shades, fans could expect extraordinary things from her on the court.
