The 2024 Olympics will be remembered for a long time. A team that encompassed the NBA A-listers, the alphas, and the closest to the ‘Dream Team’ (some believe they surpassed the 1992 squad) was at hand in what would perhaps be their final Olympic run together and successfully brought the gold home. What really excited everyone was the chemistry between arguably two of the greatest basketball players – LeBron James and Stephen Curry.
After years of going against each other, this link-up was a dream come true for many who could only fantasize about it. Their on-court efficiency and off-court camaraderie, needless to say, paved the way for future team-up rumors in the NBA. With LeBron James having been a free agent this year, the trade chatter only grew uncontrollably louder.
However, the man decided to stay with the Lakers and share the court with his son. Yet, it seems fans still hope for a future link-up. When Dave McMenamin of ESPN asked if there was a chance that LeBron James and Steph Curry could be teammates, the 20x All-Star had a pretty blunt response. “I have no idea.”

Interestingly enough, he was full of praise for Steph and thankful for the opportunity to play with the ‘Chef’ over the summer in Paris, right before this question. “It was everything I dreamed of and inspired to wanna be a part of that team along with Steph. Great memories. Something I will remember from my basketball career for the rest of my life, for sure.”

While that was all well and good, could LeBron’s lack of enthusiasm be because of Steph Curry’s Olympic admission?
Steph Curry’s casual confession might have left LeBron James to ponder his place in the mix
What’s your perspective on:
Could LeBron and Steph's Olympic chemistry spark a future NBA team-up, or is it just a dream?
Have an interesting take?
The Paris Olympics was both Steph’s debut and potentially his last game with Team USA. As such, there was a period of adjustment for the 4x champion. The addition of the greatest veteran and young names in the team did not make it any easier, either. However, the ‘Baby-Faced Assassin’ stepped up when it mattered the most!
The final two games in the Olympics saw Steph scorching his opponents in his quest for his first Olympic gold. Talking to USA Today about the whole experience, much like others, Curry had nothing but praise for the opportunity. He also mentioned the challenges he personally faced, as well as the team.
However, what really caught everyone’s attention was Steph’s casual remark as he talked about how proud he was they overcame the challenges. “We knew it was going to be a challenge. [But I made] memories for a lifetime with those guys. I played with some of them; I’ve been teammates. Others I played against for years and liked them, didn’t like them all the way through,” he admitted.
Naturally, it would make a lot of his Team USA teammates wonder who exactly it was Steph Curry referred to. Unfortunately, we never really got much clarification on the matter.
But would this be something that might weigh on LeBron James’ mind? We will never know. That is until he drops one of his mysterious notes on X or makes some pointed comments.
ESPN believes that the Bay Area side had contacted the Purple and Gold leading up to the trade deadline last season. But “sources told ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne, however nothing materialized after Lakers governor Jeanie Buss directed Golden State to speak with James’ longtime agent, Rich Paul of Klutch Sports.”
