The 19-year-old Alex Sarr has landed in the Washington Wizards in the NBA Draft through no. 2 overall pick. It has been three days since the Frenchman settled in Washington, DC, to join his team. Interestingly, the young prospect almost broke into tears when his name was announced from the Wizards’ end. Alex’s brother Olivier Sarr could not get drafted and has signed a two-way contract with OKC. That’s why Alex, as well as his brother, almost choked up their necks, being completely sentimental. However, it seems that the Frenchman has a liking for his new team’s ambiance.

During Wizards’ introductory conference on Saturday night, the host asked Alex about his emotional state from fan reactions and the city. However, despite almost breaking up at the draft, his response seemed quite positive and genuine after joining the team. “It feels great to be here. Like, we went to dinner last night and I was thinking like, it feels like home, “ the young prospect described his first experience in the district of Washington. There’s a reason why Alex is not finding similarities between his home and Washington.

Interstingly, Washington state shares the same 46-degree northern latitude with French regions like Bordeaux, Burgundy, and Rhône. And Alex hails from Bordeaux. That’s why he is experiencing the same climate and most of the vegetative similarities in foods and wines. But it was not just about the place for Alex. The ambiance of his new team made Sarr realize that he “can really grow and take the next steps” in his game.
